WelcomeDistinguished Delegates,
Welcome to Scotland, birthplace of the great Scottish scientist James Clerk Maxwell who first brought electricity, magnetism, and light together as different manifestations of the same phenomenon. Today, we meet in this place to discuss Quantum Science and Technology.
At this conference we will cover quantum systems for magnetic and spin effects, quantum computing and simulations. Application is the focus, including those for microelectronics, brain-inspired information processing, metrology, and nanotechnologies such as graphene and nanowire.
We trust you will take this opportunity to foster new relationships and collaborations, as well as enjoying your time here over the next few days. Feel free to contact the conference organiser or staff if we can help at any time.
Welcome to Aberdeen and The First International Symposium on Quantum Science and Technology!
Best Regards,
Dr. Henry TanQ1 ChairmanUniversity of Aberdeen

Conference SongWe Are The LightMusic & Lyrics by Nils EldersWe’ll find our destiny We were born in the starsThis opportunity to know who we areLet the world know that we can make a change this year Let time show that we made a difference here
When we feel that we’ve got a lot to proveTake a look at everyone around youNever give up, together we’re strong Just see how far we’ve come
We are the light bright like the sunWe are the light that shines for everyoneWe are the sparks that inspireThe flames that keep you rightSo let’s stand togetherWe are the light
An idea is a seedlingthat you can sowDetermination is a sun beam That can help it to grow
Let the world know that our intention’s clearLet time show that we made a difference here
When we feel that we’ve got a lot to proveTake a look at everyone around youNever give up, together we’re strong Just see how far we’ve come
We are the light that’s bright like the sunWe are the light that shines for everyoneWe are the sparks that inspireThe flames that keep us rightSo let’s stand togetherWe are the light
