Joy  Nan  Rodia

Picking the Perfect Color Palette Have  you  ever  visited  someone’s  house  And  said  “Wow,

I    love  how  they  pulled  the  colors  of  their  home  together?”

Everyone  wants  their  home  to  feel  pulled  together  ,  warm  ,

and  invi1ng  reflec1ng    your  personal  touches  throughout    your  space.

Color  can  profoundly,  and  inexpensively    enhance  your  space

And  we  may  have  a  strong  desire  to    use  interes1ng  paint

colors  and  accessories  in  our  home.

We  all  want  that  sense  of  con1nuity    of  color  and  design

from  room  to  room.

Finding Your Color Inspiration

Every  room  in  every  home  inside  and  out  must  have  someone  making  color  decisions  that  impact  the  look  of  the  final  seTng.  The  choice  of  floor  material,  paint  for  walls  and  ceiling,  fabrics,  and  furnishings  will  involve  someone  making  several  color  choices.

This  task  can  seem  daun1ng  to  many,  horrifying  to  others  and  some1mes  there  is    someone  who  does  it  with  ease.

They  look  for  guidance  in  shelter  magazines,  television  shows,  hundreds  of  books,  newspapers  and  even  advice  from  their  friends  and  family  and  in  many  cases  they  s1ll  are  at  a  loss  as  of  what  to  do.  Here  are  several  avenues  to  follow  to  find  that  elusive  road  over  the  rainbow  and  into  their  homes.

Inspiration = Color Perfection •  Step  1:  Define  the  mood  you  want  to  create  in  the  room

•  Step  2:  Determine  the  color  family

•  Step  3:  Select  the  perfect  1nt,  tone  or  shade  •  Step  4:  Sample  the  color

•  Step  5:  Study  the  color  •  Step  6:  Paint  the  room

•  Step  7:  Show  off    your  terrific  work!!

Finding Color Inspiration

Is  there  an  exis1ng,  unchangeable  or  desired  color  in  a  room  or  on  the  outside  of  your  home  that  can  be  used  as  a  star1ng  place.

Find  a  pa`ern  or  combina1on  of  colors  in  a  piece  of  fabric,  on      a  pillow  or  in  the  case  of  an  exterior,  a  single  stone  or  brick  that  contains  that  color.

This  pa`ern  or  combina1on  of  colors  should  appeal  to  you;  search  un1l  you  find  something  that  really  draws  your  interest.

Use  the  other  colors  in  the  pa`ern  for  the  rest  of  your  color  choices.  Perhaps  there  is  a  neutral  hidden  in  the  pa`ern  that  can  become  the  wall  color,  an  accent  color  may  exist  in  the  group  and  that  can  be  used  in  small  amounts,  maybe  on  a  feature  wall  or  on  a  front  door.

Finding Your Color Story

In  a  li`le  over  an  hour,  we’ll  visit  you  in  your  home,  get  an  overview  of  your  spaces,  your  lifestyle  and  the  personality  you  wish  to  convey

Out  of  our  discussions  we’ll  establish  a  paint  strategy  that  will  1e  everything  together  by

enhancing  your  home’s  decor  through  the  use  of  well-‐chosen  paint  color

This  pa`ern  or  combina1on  of  colors  should  appeal  to  you;  search  un1l  you  find  something  that  really  draws  your  interest.      Use  the  other  colors  in  the  pa`ern  for  the  rest  of  your  color  choices.  Perhaps  there  is  a  neutral  hidden  in  the  pa`ern  that  can  become  the  wall  color,  an  accent  color  may  exist  in  the  group  and  that  can  be  used  in  small  amounts,  maybe  on  a  feature  wall  or  on  a  front  door

Finding Your Color Inspiration

When  star1ng  from  the  ground  up  you  can  also  accomplished  this  with  a  pa`ern  or  in  some  cases  a  favorite  pain1ng  or  even  a  pleasant  place  to  visit

Finding Your Color Inspiration

Using  a  pain1ng  as  inspira1on,  in  this  case  the  pale  off  white  could  be  the  walls,  the  deep  blue  a  carpet  or  piece  of  furniture,  the  lemon  could  be  curtains.  You  don’t  have  to  take  the  colors  as  they  appear  you  can  neutralize  them  by  making  them  lighter  or  grayer  and  you  can  make  them  lighter  to  tone  them  down.  The  colors  should  be  used  in  three  propor1ons  of  visual  interest,  the  largest  for  walls,  the  medium  for  carpet  and  the  smallest  for  accents.

Paint  Paralysis?  Color  Anxiety?

•  Spaces  Design  Studio    can  help  you  today.    Some  may  call  it  paint  paralysis  –  frozen  in  fear  of  using  paint  color  inappropriately.

•   But  we  do  make  color  choices  every  day  –  o<en  with  unrecognized  confidence.  We  may  be  able  to  dress  ourselves,  our  kids  and  our  husbands,  but  an  enAre  wall  of  paint  color  can  be  irraAonally  inAmidaAng.
