  • THE INDEPENDENCE UPDATE

6850 Hubbard Road Chris Turner, Principal Clarkston, MI 48348 Ray Lebert, PTO President (248) 623-5500 June, 2015

    From the Principal . . .From the Principal . . .From the Principal . . .From the Principal . . .

Yesterday, the Independence staff and students had the opportunity to

provide a special celebration and breakfast for many of our wonderful

volunteers that have served us so well throughout the year. We

appreciated the chance to say, Thank you to those that have given of

their time, talents, and efforts to help the children in our school.

We know that not everyone was able to attend the celebration.

However, we want you to know that we appreciate all that our volunteers

have done for us throughout the year. From our first-ever Winter

Carnival, to S.O.C.K.S. Day, to Field Day, to helping out in the

classrooms, and the many different roles that you play, you make a

difference. Without the support of our parents and family members, we

would not be the school that we are.

The staff at Independence Elementary wishes all of

our students and families a safe and happy summer.

We look forward to seeing everyone back on the first

day of the 2015-16 school year Tuesday, September 8!

    Chris Turner

June Updates from the Independence Elementary PTOJune Updates from the Independence Elementary PTOJune Updates from the Independence Elementary PTOJune Updates from the Independence Elementary PTO

We are lucky at Independence Elementary to have so many parents go the extra mile to help us with passive fundraising methods. Feel free to read the section of this newsletter that goes into these details. We have many households that participate in Kroger Community Rewards (Kroger Cash). This money all goes towards classroom enhancements throughout the year; however, you will all need to re-apply for this at the beginning of June. Thanks for helping out. Our school wouldnt be the same without all the help from our parent volunteers and IE teachers and staff. Thanks for all you accomplished during SOCKS Day and the myriads of other events this year. We are also excited to announce that Independence Elementary has achieved Green School status as well.

If you would like to be involved more next year, we hope to hear from you. PTO members will be soliciting your help early in the 2015-16 school year. There is always a way to help out the school, no matter what your work, or home schedule is like.

Last, but not least, the Independence Elementary Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) is happy to announce the 2015-16 PTO Board for next year. Were happy to see the team grow, but sad to see others go.
