Focus Breeds Success in 2016
Nothing will get the same success as concentrated effort. Focus today has new rewards and challenges – and they affects you!
The rewards for focus have increased. If you can focus on one task and master it, you’ll be handsomely compensated.
For example..
With 20 focused hours on each activity, Josh Kaufman taught himself:• Ukulele. • Touch-typing. • Programming. • Windsurfing. • Yoga.
In 1959 Tom Monaghan, an architecture student, got a $900 loan and purchased a pizzeria. His goal was to make enough money to get by – that wasn’t happening.
Things were looking dire for Tom..
Until he started focusing..
Tom spent all his time and effort focusing on the business’s delivery function. He slaved away improving
boxes and advertising on college
campuses.
It paid off..
Tom’s humble pizzeria is now Dominos Pizza - one of the world’s largest food franchises.
Obstacles have also increased.Focus is becoming a rare skill in 2016.
Focus is becoming less common for three reasons:
1. Constant distractions killing our attention span
Being forever distracted by technology has reduced our attention span significantly. This makes focusing on one thing harder than ever before.
2. Endless things to spend our time on
There’s always something new and shiny to hook our attention. This dilutes our focus across too many areas.
3. The simplification of everything
Everything is
easier today than
ever before. This is great, but it limits our need to flex our focus muscle.
These obstacles aren’t bad!
This rarity is driving the value of focus up!
One last note on focus..
It’s easy!
Once you start it’s easy.
There’s a small hurdle at the beginning, then it’s simple and pleasurable.
