70th ANNUAL KEY CLUB INTERNATIONAL CONVENTION

EDITOR’S LETTER Dear New Jersey District Board, For those of you who attended International Convention, you would all know what an amazing experience it was. What can top living in a hotel room with your friends for a whole week and getting to watch fireworks from the National Mall on Independence Day? Even though the whole thing felt like a vacation, I think everyone that went also got some valuable information from the workshops as well as built some connections with others that they meant. Anyway, since the school year is approaching, it is important to get everything ready during the summer so that the September doesn’t become a month of distress. Be sure you are all making newsletters because 10 are due by the end of the year in order to have a chance to be distinguished! Apart from that, have a nice summer. Yours in Caring and Service, Pak Chau 2013-2014 New Jersey District Editor New Jersey District of Key Club International Egg Harbor Township High School Key Club

KCDC 2013 JULY 3-7

Prior to the official start of International Convention, the New Jersey District Key Clubbers got to explore Washington D.C. before being engulfed in workshops and sessions. Some notable places that were visited include the Newseum, the National's baseball game, the Arlington cemetery, the national monuments, the capitol building, the National Spy Museum, Ford’s Theater, and even the Washington D.C. Convention center where Key Clubbers got the opportunity to help pack food for the Kids Against Hunger which helps families that lack food resources to be able to feed their families the bare necessities. Along with the tours given, attendees also got the chance to explore the city themselves by using the convenient subway system of Washington D.C.

ICON DAY 1 ICON DAY 2 ICON DAY 3 After finally touring much of Washington D.C. the several days before convention actually started, Key Club Interna-tional’s International Convention finally started with a meet and greet.: a time for Key Clubbers to meet others from across the nation and across the world. Key Clubbers also got to trade district pins with one another.

The second day of convention was also the fourth of July! After the official opening session of International Conven-tion and the several hour long causing sessions for candidate running for international office, attendees got to explore the National Mall and the Washington Monument under the Independence Day fireworks!

Day three of convention was jammed with events! From the morning Meet the Candidates sessions to the afternoon ELIMINATE lunch to the workshops to the service fair to the awards—the day was a long but exciting one. New Jersey even received the most money fundraised per member award!

The fourth day of international convention started with more workshops. Afterwards, house of delegates was held and the amendments to the Key Club bylaws were discussed. Finally, the closing session ended the convention officially and Zack Waldorf from New Jersey was announced as an international trustee for the 2013-2014 service year!

On the final day, Key Clubbers got to explore Washington D.C. one last time. Attendees explored the Smithsonian Museums and the Holocaust Museum. With that, the trip finally ended with a melancholy bus ride back to New Jersey.

QUESTIONS TO ASK HOW TO MEET THOSE WORD OR LENGTH REQUIREMENTS FOR ARTICLES

Some articles have a certain word limit to look aesthetically pleasing. Others may not be interesting enough without adding certain details. All in all, the question is how to make these articles more lengthy? The answer is simple, ask questions. Questions lead to a variety of an-swers that be elaborated. For example, you could be writing an article about bread. It might be a little boring if you’re just going to write about the bread, but by asking more questions, this article about bread can turn into a article about a starch based product responsible for the starvation of the French during the reign of Louis XVI! It’s all about know what to write add and what to write about!
