Functions Thymus, White Blood Cells, Antibodies

Thymus: The thymus creates antibodies.

White Blood Cells: Kills virus infected cells.

Antibodies: Recognize and bind foreign substances

Functions Epidermis, Saliva

Epidermis: protects major organs and protects body from bacteria

Saliva: breaks down bacteria.

Functions Cilia, Mucus

Cilia: Hair like structure that pushes mucus into throat for coughing or sneezing.

Mucus: protects the body from germs from preventing them from entering the body.

Vaccinations The way a vaccination work is by

purposely putting the antigen into the immune system to produce immunity.

Some diseases that can be prevented by vaccinations are:

Chicken pox

Hep. A, Hep. B

Diphtheria

First line of defense The dead outer layer of the skin

known as the epidermis.

When you breathe bacteria becomes stuck by the mucus.

Bacteria that makes it through gets pushed down by the cilia.

First line of defense The saliva contains many

chemicals that breaks down bacteria. However, many forms of bacteria can survive.

Swallowed bacteria that make it through gets pushed down into the stomach by the cilia and gets destroyed by stomach acid.

Conclusion In conclusion, the immune system

is our bodies defense system against foreign bacteria. The thymus creates antibodies. White blood cells destroy infected blood cells. Antibodies detect and bind foreign substances. The epidermis protects major organs and protects body from bacteria. The saliva break down bacteria. Some forms of diseases can be prevented by vaccinations.
