Welcome to your new i library –
a library for the
21st Century student.
Here is a guided tour to the different areas that
have been created for teachers and to enhance
student learning. The “i” library is all about the
students. They are the “i”

Books to read are on view to catch the eye of
students as soon as they enter their library.
This will encourage them to choose one,
borrow and enjoy
iread
Literature/Wide reading area. Ring and book this
area with Anne the teacher librarian. Student
reading logs will be kept in the library so they can
be updated out of class time. It will give you a
good record of their reading activities for reports
and we can build up their reader profile.
ithink
Research area with 28 laptops. Ring and book
this area with Anne the teacher librarian.
Together we can work on student information
technology skills ie notetaking, finding and
processing relevant information and then
demonstrating this knowledge by using web
2.0 tools like wall wisher, glogster, prezi,
wordle, voice thread – the list goes on and on!

Book this room for students to present their work,
guest speakers; showing a dvd, group work or
testing. Enjoy the lecture theatre chairs (with
writing arm), data projector, dvd /video player and
ebeam

Book this room for students who want to create a
multimedia presentation. Movies – Mark is making
a green screen for us. Sound files can be made.
Drama performances can be practised and filmed.
Please see anne who has a wonderful sheet that
guides students in the correct steps to making a
wonderful movie. This room may be booked in
conjunction with the iread and ithink areas.
The icreate room is also available for staff who
wish to show a utube clip or dvd.

Suitable for small groups.
This room has two computers (ask library staff if
any laptops are not booked for use with data
projectors and maybe available)
Staff wide reading are on the open shelves; teacher
reference and class set books are in the compactus.
A white board coffee table (my invention and cost
$10! ) is available for students to test each other
e.g. ,spelling or design and then take a picture of
the design, a group may work out a debating
outline.The possibilities are endless

A round table with two large monitors (to be
installed) can be booked. You may send a group to
work here collaboratively e.g drama script;debate.
Four students can work on one screen or eight
students may work together. Students can attach
the laptop or ipad to the monitors and all students
will be able to see and be engaged in the task.

Students can collect class sets, audio visual e.g
cameras, laptop keys/ sheets that have been booked
by teachers. They may also reserve/collect a book
on the booklist for use during class time or
overnight loan.
itest/istudy/iplay
During recess this is a favourite spot for games.
During class time you may send students who were
not at school for a test or may need to work alone.
Contact the library and give us the test and any
special instructions e.g open book. We will return
the test to your pigeon hole.
Iprint/ifinish work
Six computers are available for students to finish
work; print.
inews
The Herald Sun and Age are available for reading.
Also other news of interest like the latest
Scholastic Book Club catalogues; posters
displaying information that may be of interest to
students e.g international student exchange;
fundraising activities .
icopy
Students may print to the printer or photocopier.
An A3 scanner is also available for students who
need a digital copy of their art work or do not have
money to photocopy e.g a page from a class text
book,maths cheat sheet. We even have an
automatic stapler which students are enjoying !
N.B Library staff will photocopy for staff when the
emergency arises. .
