Overall, the levels of participation in ball game and roller skating decreased slightly, while the percentage of running and swimming saw a striking growth during the period shown. In the first ten year, the proportion of young population taking part in swimming and running activities shown increasingly similarity, at approximately 17% and 13% respectively in 1985. This was followed by a period of exponential growth, with swimming activity rate reaching a peak of 35 percent in present day. The running activity rate, meanwhile, fluctuated at somewhere between 8 percent and 10 percent prior to 2000, before climbing sharply to 15 percent at present. Decreasing from just under 35 percent in 1975 to 33 percent in 1985, the rates of people playing ball games then plunged to approximately 20 percent in 2000. At the present, the figure for ball games rates reaches about 20 percent. Besides, the roller skating rates saw a slight drop in the first ten years, and then fluctuated at somewhere in the vicinity of 20 percent in latter ten year of 20 century.
