The Iditarod

Hi we learned about the Iditarod. Your going to learn about racing and mushers.

The dogs are tied up to the sled. They have to be fast to be in the race. They go from Anchorage Nome. The dogs like to run. The first few miles is in

the woods. That is the steep part in the race that they have to climb up.

The mushers yell ‘gee’ to go right and they yell ‘haw’ to go left. The mushers drop food to other checkpoints. The mushers let the dogs sleep when they are tired. Sometimes the dogs get hurt. Then the mushers carry the dogs on their sled. Then they drop that dog at the next checkpoint.
