Trust in God for the Future

I’m addressing the problem of the declining influence of Christ and His church in America’s present social order. Repeatedly, in the Old Testament, the children of God fell into the practice of serving other gods than JEHOVAH, who had miraculously delivered them out of Egyptian slavery. It seems we Americans have not learned from their repeated mistake. We have gone after our images of success -- big numbers in big churches and big preachers. Lest it should be said of me, “he is hateful.”

I LOVE the church JESUS built (Matthew 16:18)

I LOVE the church of which JESUS is the head (Ephesians 5:22-23).

I LOVE the church which is JESUS’ bride (Ephesians 5:22-23).

I LOVE the church to which JESUS adds all saved (Acts 2:47).

I LOVE the church that JESUS loved (Ephesians 5:23).

I LOVE the church GOD loves and designed churches of Christ to be the agency by which the whole world should hear the gospel way of salvation (Genesis 1:1-2; Ephesians 3:10).

I have been reading what others–editors, elders, and preachers–have said, and they -- with one voice -- express concern that the church that was fastest growing in America only 25 years ago is now the fastest dying. Why? I will leave you think about it for a month while I read about it. Then I will be back, the LORD willing. In Christian love. Mack Lyon

SEARCH LightThe 2

Once again, SEARCH is moving a station location and time due to circumstances beyond our control. For many years IN SEARCH OF THE LORD’S WAY has been shown in Memphis, TN on station WHBQ channel 13 at 7:30 am Sunday mornings. The station management has decided to change its format and this consumed airtime on which SEARCH was currently shown. We had no choice in this matter and were given the option of changing to 9:30 am, which is not good for many of the viewers who are attending church during this time.

At the present time, SEARCH has only one viable option and that is to relocate to the ABC station WATN at 8:30 am Sunday mornings. This change is not what the SEARCH staff wanted, but it is better than any other available time currently in the Memphis area. As I have mentioned before, it is not our intention to move around from station to station; this is forced change in the SEARCH broadcast schedule. There will be more information available on this station change coming in the June newsletter. Please let friends and family in the Memphis area know about this change. If you need clarification on this telecast change, please contact SEARCH by e-mail [email protected] or by phone 1-800-321-8633.

At SEARCH we strive to keep our schedule page up-to-date and as error free as possible. Please let us know if you encounter any changes to the local broadcast of IN SEARCH OF THE LORD’S WAY in your area.

SEARCH is now viewable in more locations than ever in the history of the program! This newsletter and the website www.searchtv.org are the best two locations to find the latest information about the ministry. Broadcast times, channel information, and supporting church locations are just a few of the items found on the website. If you haven’t visited lately have a look at the study sheets that go along with the program each week.

As always, the SEARCH staff thanks our volunteers and supporters for working with us to reach untold millions of people each and every week with the Good News of CHRIST.

PROGRAMSJune 2014

Topics subject to change without noticeJUNE 1 – HAS GOD SPOKEN?

Some people think there is no God, while others say God has done nothing since creating the world. Has God spoken to mankind? Is God involved in the affairs of men? God has not forgotten us but sent Jesus to speak to us.

JUNE 8 – BE YE HOLYWhat does it mean to be holy? God is Himself

utterly holy, and He has set apart His people to live holy and righteous lives that conform to His will. It seems the sense of being holy and righteous is vanishing today. What can we do?

JUNE 15 – SPEAKING OUTSome think we should never speak out against

sin or about the false doctrines we hear. Did Jesus ever speak out against the evils of His day, and should we speak out? One thing is sure: if we fail to speak out, the devil will surely have his say.

JUNE 22 – WHY DO WE SUFFER? When life comes crashing down, people often

respond by asking the question, “Why?” For many troubles of life, there are answers; but some tragedies make no sense. In times like these, we must reach out to God for comfort and strength.

JUNE 29 – WILL GOD HEAR MY PRAYER?

Most people pray every day, and even unbelievers pray. Remarkably, God gives us this amazing opportunity to pour out our hearts before Him at any time. God, however, wants us to understand that we must pray according to His will.

SEARCH OF THE LORD’S WAY®

TRAVERSE CITY, MI “Hope all is going well with you and the staff at Search. Got some good news to report. Last Sunday 4/20, a 93 year old was Baptized at the Traverse City church. This is a result of her watching the Search program for the past 3 years. She would set her alarm, get her coffee and be ready at 7:30 AM. She would sing with the church at Edmond. She met Phil when he was here a couple years ago. Her daughter had asked her several times in the past 40 years to obey the Gospel only to be told, "leave me alone." Her daughter asked her to go to church on Sunday and she agreed. When she went and picked her up, her daughter asked, ‘did you watch the Search program this morning?’ Her reply was, ‘yes,

VIENNA, WV “We always love to hear Phil. We go way back with him from his Concord Rd. days in TN. May God’s blessings continue to be with him and the Search program. We purchased Mack’s book and what a great blessing he is to everyone. We have had the privilege of hearing him several times in person. My husband is blind and I am reading Mack’s book to him. Continue your good work.”

ENGLEWOOD, TN “I told Mack when he spoke at Preachers School in Karnes, TN, that my wife Kathy ‘had breakfast’ with him every Sunday at 7:30. Brother Phil nothing has changed, we still have another great lesson. I am 93 years old, and still enjoy the fullness of life. Keep up the wonderful work.”

CONWAY, AR “Keep up the good work of bringing people all over the world – to Christ.”

and I am convinced I need to be Baptized. I want to do it today.’ Just had to pass the good news on to you. The program is doing very well here in northern Michigan and we get good comments all the time. Keep up the good work, to God be the glory.”

RACINE, WI “Hope this contribution can help spreading the Gospel, the true gospel, you do so well. We listen every Sunday morning.”

CHOUTEU, OK “My great-grandson (15 years old) was baptized into Christ about 3 weeks ago. Praise to God.”

KENNESAW, GA “We welcome brother Phil Sanders for a gospel meeting beginning April 13. Thanks for sending him to us.”
