had passed away. One of the owners of Gar-den Gate has passed away after her battle with cancer; they always have a winning entry in the Fourth of July Parade. Please keep these families in your prayers. Paul McFar-land gave the invocation. Ian Mudge led the Pledge of Allegiance and “The Star Spang-led Banner.” Our guests and visitors were in-troduced, including DGE John Moser, Owen Devlin District Foundation Chair, and the Asst. Governor for this area. Lisa Amsberry intro-duced our Marketplace advertiser of the week, one of RCPC's Collaborative Partners, the Sal-vation Army; their programs transform lives.

District Major Donor Chair, PP Doug Gill recognized Susan Harris as a Major Donor, whom he referred to as a dedicated group of humanitarians. PP Greg Pape remarked that RCPC has the most members who are Major Donors in the District. PP Greg also reported that, to date, forty-eight members had contri-buted over $22,000 to the RI Foundation. Cub Amos recogni-zed Kyle Amos as a Paul Harris Fellow.

reported that there were only 177 days until the Fourth of July and time to start planning for the Parade. She asked that we vote on the theme. VP Happy Franklin announced the Evening of Indulgence at Chocolate Secrets and the Super Bowl Party at Ozona.

Cub Amos introduced our speaker today Troy Vaughn, Presi- dent of Principle Services, LLC. He began by saying that the energy in-dustry is about to undergo changes. Electricity requires generation, transmission, and distribution If the demand is greater than the supply, then there will be rolling blackouts. If the supply is inconsistent, there will be mar-ket volatility. Texas has the cheapest power in the United States, but the demand contin-ues to grow. Electricity flows from the gener-ation plant to a transformer which increases the voltage to flow long distances through the transmission lines. Then the electricity goes

to the neighborhood transformer which steps down the voltage to go through the lines to the user. Some industries have tremendous electricity loads, and if it goes down, then it is very costly to the plant. In 2019 in Texas electricity was generated forty percent by natural

gas, twenty percent by coal, twenty percent wind and eleven percent by nuclear, with small percentages by other sources. Coal and nuclear plants have large, reliable and steady production. Natural gas production is reliable, but the plants are smaller. Solar and wind pro-duction is less reliable. In the future the use of natural gas will increase because it is cheaper, but the use of coal will not. The use of wind and solar will increase the most. Solar farm production is becoming less expensive and can supplement wind energy.

THOUGHTS ON . . .

Retirement at sixty-five is ridicu-lous. When I was sixty-five I still had pimples. ~ George BurnsDon't simply retire from something; have something to retire to.

~ Harry Emerson FosdickI believe that all of us ought to retire relatively young.

~ Fidel CastroRetirement is the ugliest word in the language. ~ Ernest Hemingway When a man retires and time is no longer a matter of urgent import-ance, his colleagues generally pre-sent him with a watch.

~ R. C. Sherriff Retirement kills more people than hard work ever did.

~ Malcolm S. ForbesAge is only a number, a cipher for the records. A man can't retire his experience. He must use it. Experi-ence achieves more with less ener-gy and time. ~ Bernard Baruch It is time I stepped aside for a less experienced and less able man.

A famous doctor was being interviewed by the news media. Looking to spice things up a little , one reporter asked if the doctor had ever made any mistakes.

“Well, yes,” the doctor sighed. “I once cured a multimillionaire.” “How was that a mis-take?” the reporter asked. The doctor shook his head wearily. “I did it in one visit.”
