There areseveral types of volunteer positions, from Teacher Friendly Guideto Climate Change mailing initiative volunteers, Kids Discover theTrail Docents, and Collections Database Assistants.  Hours are flexible, preferably from 9:00am-5:00pm. 

Free Science Workshop (210 Hancock St, Ithaca) [email protected] The Free Science Workshop provides underserved and low-income families with a supportive, community-based spacewhere they can explore their world through science. The FreeScience Workshop aims to provide equitable access to science -something all people deserve. We will offer open drop-in hoursMonday, Wednesday and Friday from 3-6pm, as well as weeklyvisits from afterschool groups from, GIAC, Urban 4-H andSouthside Community Center. Volunteer faciliatators assist youthin exploring science and working on weekly projects, as well asdeveloping original projects of their own interest. Tuesdays 3:30-5PM: Work with 15 youth from GIAC's STEAM teamon a long term building and engineering project. Wednesdays 4-6PM: Work with 20 Urban 4-H youth from theNorthside neighborhood to explore a weekly science topic andbuild original projects. Fridays 3:30-5PM: Host 10 youth from Southside CommunityCenter for a weekly science theme and building interest drivenprojects.

CRC is a small agency with a big heart, a positivevibe, and a sense of humor. The volunteer’s main tasks are toanswer phones, welcome clients, and help with preparations forsupport groups. If you like to meet new people, socialize, andlend a supportive ear, this is the perfect opportunity for YOU! Hours are flexible.

Dish Truck Group  Joey Diana Gates, Project Manager: [email protected] The dish truck group is a locally based, volunteer driven, non-profitpollution prevention initiative that provides durable dishes to eventcoordinators to use in place of disposables. They aim to lower theenvironmental impacts of events, to include garbage generation,food waste, greenhouse gases and water use through eliminationof single use service ware. They are looking for volunteers to helpservice the events themselves, as well as washing and tallyingdishes afterwards for reporting purposes.  Training/orientation is held on a monthly basis.
