“THE HOLY SPIRIT AND POWER”

I. The Holy Spirit empowers us to live Christ-

centered and cross-centered lives, rather than self-centered ones, by molding us into the image

of Jesus.

II. The Holy Spirit enables us to love God and one

another (Rom. 5:5).

III. The Holy Spirit helps us to renew our minds (Rom. 12:1-2).

THE PLAN OF THE AGES

In Romans 8:29-30, the apostle Paul tells us that God has a plan for those whom He foreknew. What is that plan? To be conformed to the image of His son. This is no fly-by-night affair. It was all planned out before the world began (Eph. 1:4). The creation of a family with sons and daughters who resemble the image of Jesus is the reason for all of God’s creative activity.

Christianity is all about being conformed to the image of Jesus. Jesus said in John 13:14-15: “If I then, the Lord and the Teacher, washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet. For I gave you an example that you also should do as I did to you.” Later in the same chapter, He spoke these words: “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, even as I have loved you, that you also love one another” (John 13:34). Paul, writing to the saints at Philippi said, “Have this atti-tude in yourselves which was also in Christ Je-sus” (Phil. 2:5). Peter writes, “For you have been called for this purpose, since Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example for you to follow in His steps” (1 Pet. 2:21).

This won’t be fully realized in this life, but when Jesus returns in the clouds of heaven, the dead will be raised, the living will be changed, and we will all be clothed with glorious new bodies in the image of Christ (I Thess. 4:16-17; 1 Cor. 15:51-52; Phil. 3:20-21). Come, Lord Jesus!

Missy Robbins (Lexi’s manager at Freddy’s)...She was accidentally

run over by a car. She has seven broken ribs, a collapsed lung, and

her ear was ripped off.

Eldon Stephens (Former member)….....He had surgery to repair a

detached retina, and the surgery went very well. His vision is improv-

ing, although there is no guarantee it will return to 100%.
