CLOSURE OF THE MONASTERY. THE ROOM’S WOODWORK WAS

RECLAIMED FROM THE RUINS OF A RHODE ISLAND MANSION

DESTROYED BY FIRE EARLY IN THE LAST CENTURY. INCORPORAT-

ED INTO THE PLANS FOR THE MONASTIC COMPLEX, THE RECEP-

TION ROOM WAS ORIGINALLY INTENDED AS A SPACE IN WHICH

OUR FOUNDING ABBOT, DOM EDMUND FUTTERER, COULD

MEET WITH HONORED GUESTS AND VISITING PRELATES.
