Just the Beginning O Miles College was founded in 1898 by the
Colored Methodist Episcopal Church (Now the Christian Methodist Episcopal Church, also known as the C.M.E. Church)O The college was named after Bishop William
H. MilesO The college is still supported by and affiliated
with the CME churchO Originally located in ThomasvilleO Moved to Fairfield, AL in the Spring of 1907

Bishop William H. Miles

A First . . .O Williams Hall became the first college building completed on the campus in 1907
O Williams Hall was named after Bishop R.R. Williams, the presiding CME bishop in
AlabamaO It has served as the administration building, the women’s dormitory and the
home of the economics classes.O Williams Hall is currently closed and
awaiting renovations
