From Father Mike Tix . . . .

During the month of May, Pope Francis is encouraging people to pray the rosary for an end of the coronavirus pandemic. In making this announcement, he wrote: “I am also providing two prayers to Our Lady that you can recite at the end of the rosary and that I myself will pray in the month of May in spiritual union with all of you.” What follows is one of the two prayers.

We fly to your protection, O Holy Mother of god. In the present tragic situation, when the whole world is prey to suffering and anxiety, we fly to you, Mother of God and our Mother, and seek refuge under your protection.

Virgin Mary, turn your merciful eyes toward us amid this coronavirus pandemic. Comfort those who are distraught and mourn their loved ones who have died and at time are buried in a way that grieves them deeply. Be close to those who are concerned for their loved ones who are sick and who, in order to prevent the spread of the disease, cannot be close to them. Fill with hope those who are troubled by the uncertainty of the future and consequences for the economy and employment.

Mother of God and our mother, pray for us to God, the Father of mercies, that this great suffering may end and that hope and peace may dawn anew. Plead with your divine Son, as you did at Cana, so that the families of the sick and the victims be comforted and their hearts be opened to confidence and trust.

Protect those doctors, nurses, health workers and volunteers who are on the front line of this emergency and are risking their lives to save others. Support their heroic effort and grant them strength, generosity and continued health.

Be close to those who assist the sick night and day, and to priests who, in their pastoral concern and fidelity to the Gospel, are trying to help and support everyone.

Blessed Virgin, illumine the minds of men and women engaged in scientific research, that they may find effective solutions to overcome this virus.

Support national leaders, that with wisdom, solicitude and generosity they may come to the aid of those lacking the basic necessities of life and may devise social and economic solutions inspired by farsightedness and solidarity.

Mary most holy, stir our consciences so that the enormous funds invested in developing and stockpiling arms will instead be spent on promoting effective research on how to prevent similar tragedies from occurring in the future.

Beloved Mother, help us realize that we are all members of one great family and to recognize the bonds that unite us, so that in a spirit of fraternity and solidarity, we can help to alleviate countless situations of poverty and need. Make us strong in faith, preserving in service, constant in prayer.

Mary, consolation of the afflicted, embrace all your children in distress and pray that God will stretch out his all-powerful hand and free us from this terrible pandemic, so that life can serenely resume its normal course.

To you, who shine on our journey as a sign of salvation and hope, do we entrust ourselves. O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary. Amen.

When Mass does resume? Phase two with limited public Masses will hopefully begin on May 18. Our tri-parish community will start back with weekend Masses at that point. Drive through confessions on Saturday 9:00-9:30 am at St. Mathias in Hampton will continue until they can return inside each individual church. Daily Mass will be added gradually once all the governor's restrictions can be met. Eucharistic adoration will return in the next phase.

We are currently looking for volunteers to form cleaning teams who are willing to assist maintenance in wiping down pews, door handles and plates, and other contact points after each Mass, and before the next. For more information contact the parish office. We would like to have two teams of four people for each parish. It will be crucial to form and train these teams before beginning daily Mass and later Eucharistic adoration.

Tri Parish KC Council #5199

There are untold things in life that can cause anxiety. There are just some distressful things in life that are naturally going to create anxiety, like how to deal with the uncertainty the Covid-19 pandemic has brought. Things like awaiting test results from your doctor, losing your job and source of income, or your spouse filing for divorce (to name a few) are all legitimate reasons for feeling anxious. But there are also times anxiety originates with wrong thinking in our minds, not trusting fully in God and His Word, and not taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ (2 Cor. 10:5). Regardless of anxiety’s source, dealing with it head-on is of utmost importance. While the emotion of anxiety itself is not a sin, it shouldn’t last. It shouldn’t continue. It shouldn’t have a negative effect. We must be willing to face up to and deal with our anxious thoughts and feelings. Anxiety is simply a reaction to some circumstance in your life. And when God tries to reveal truth to you regarding that circumstance or situation, that’s your number one priority. When God sees something going on in your life that needs instruction or correction, you need to give Him your undivided attention. Otherwise, you’ll be assured to live a life filled with anxiety and doubt. You will never be able to create positive change in your life when it is filled with anxiety and doubt. There are countless sources for anxiety—anything can cause it. While the emotion in and of itself is not a sin, not dealing with it in a proper fashion is. You need to give God your undivided attention. Turn your worries and concerns over to Him, he can and will give you peace of mind! #createpositivechange

Please note ! Next meeting will be on June 2, 2020. 7 pm in St. John Church Basement in Vermillion.

Prayer During A Health Crisis

Compassionate and Loving Father, In the face of confusion and concern

impart to us the calm of your presence. In You allow us to find hope and healing. Be with those who serve the sick and give

them Your caring hands. Be with those who lead and give them

Your Spirit of wisdom. Be with those who have fallen ill and give

them Your comforting heart. Wrap your arms around our world

and hold us in your love. Allow us at this time of trial to then

serve as instruments of that love to all we meet.

We ask this in Your Name. Amen.

Congratulations and best wishes to Julie Frandrup and Riley Trom were joined in the Sacrament of Marriage on Saturday, May 9th.

Please remember Joseph Stein in your prayers. Joseph passed away on May 3, 2020 and was buried at St. Mathias Cemetery on May 7, 2020.
