I extend a big ‘Thank You’ to those who helped at St. Joseph with their first Vacation Bible School. I’m looking forward to spending some time with the students at St. Peter’s VBS July 16-20. In both cases it can only happen because of generous volunteers giving their time.

I hope that you and your family have some tradition to get together and celebrate Independence Day. We are very fortunate to live in the Land of the Free. Mass will be celebrated at St. Julie Billiart on July 4 at 8:30am. You should be able to make it to the fairgrounds before 10am if you want to march with Butler County Right to Life or another parade contingent. I am wishing you a happy celebration of Independence Day!

I want to call your attention to events this month marking the 50th anniversary of the papal encyclical Humanae Vitae. On July 6-7 (Friday and Saturday) a conference is held in Sharonville with the theme: “Families, Become What You Are!” The family is a sanctuary of life and a school of love. It includes activities for kids. Our Hamilton Catholic Pastoral Region will host three talks on Wednesdays in July. Babysitting will be available. On July 11, I will speak about the irreplaceable role of the family and the Church’s great love and concern for family life. On July 18, a clinical counselor from Ruah Woods Psychological Services will introduce more about the Church’s vision for family life. On July 25, the same counselor will speak from his experience as a marriage counselor and as a Christian father on how to foster love in the home and guard against habits that would break homes apart. God bless you and your families!

What a joy to know, love, and serve the good God.

In Christ,

Flightless Honor Flight Saturday, July 21, 2018

100 Berkeley Square / Hamilton, Ohio 45013 Since Honor Flight Tri-State began to fly veterans twelve years ago, we have focused on World War II veterans. Their memorial was built in their honor in Washington DC over 60 years after the war ended. With the passing of time, many now are too ill to travel or have been advised by their doctor not to travel or to be away from home for 18 hours.

We now realize that many veterans of other wars and conflicts are also in the same position. The Flightless Honor Flight is designed to give these veterans a proper “thank you” for their service too. All veterans age 65 and over who have served either stateside or overseas are eligible to participate in this Flightless Honor Flight program if they are not able to participate in the regular Honor Flight Tri-State trip to Washington DC.

If you are an eligible Veteran, and have not participated in an Honor Flight previously, we would love to tell you more about this wonderful day.

For more information and a paper application, please call (513) 785-2020.

Sister Francis David May 1, 1922 - June 15, 2018

Parishioner Gerry Pater sent this in to share with parishioners that may also remember her.

Just returned from Oldenburg after attending Sister Francis David’s funeral. Sister later was restored to her

name of Sister Lavonne Long, but I still called her Sister Francis David. (Some habits are hard to break!) She taught at St. Pete’s from 1950 to 1956, and was truly loved by all. I had her as a teacher in the 2nd and 7th grades. She was great teacher and a simply awesome lady. I was fortunate enough to have been able to keep in touch with her for some sixty years. Karen Robinson and Kathy Beer also attended her funeral. Sister was 96 years old, and she left for heaven Friday, June 16, 2018. I believe that she was the last living Sister of St. Francis who had taught at St. Pete’s.

The Parish Office will be closed on

Wednesday, July 4th.

July “Make-a-Change”

NAMI of Butler County To donate to our monthly Make-a-Change Ministry, simply drop your spare change into the wooden boxes at the exit doors of church. The boxes are at all weekend Masses. Or you can place your donation in an envelope and place in the collection. Be sure to mark “Make a Change” on the envelope or check.

There are plenty of ways to share the faith. It doesn’t have to be teaching the entire Catechism; it can just be a

simple “God bless you” or an invitation to Mass.
