EDITORIALWelcome to the CAMPINGS DE LLEIDA!

The Association is made up of 48 mountain campgrounds locatedin the interior of the Lands of Lleida. The counties where thecampsites are located are Pallars Sobirà, Pallars Jussà, elAran, Alt Urgell, Alta Ribagorça, La Cerdanya, La Noguera andEl Solsonès. Each of these offer a wide range of possibilities inthe middle of nature with modern installations and all types ofservices to satisfy the most demanding campers.

ESCAPING TO THE PYRENEES IS A PROCESS OFDISCOVERY. For the campgrounds of Lleida it is essential thatwe respond to each of the demands of the campers who plan toenjoy their escape, the max, to the Pre-Pyrenees and the LeridianPyrenees. This doesn’t necessarily mean to have manyactivities, but rather calmly enjoy each moment withoutrenouncing the best comforts in the lodging of your: bungalows,cabins, tents, etc.

Each of the campsites maintains its own character, itsindividuality and its diversity. All of them have excellence, thefamiliarity of the business and the objective to make their clients“feel at home” as common factors. Experience, prestige,quality and family style in the Pre-Pyrenees and the Pyrenees ofLleida. We’re waiting for you!

GASTRONOMY

Given the great diversity oflandscapes the LeridianPyrenees offers, the flavors of itsgastronomy could not be lessgenuine and varied. Coinciding ina similar artisanal and traditionalcharacter, the variety of productsis also significant with differentcharacteristics and nuancesbased on the cuisine from thePyrenees, the Pre-Pyrenees andthe flatlands of Lleida. Among the products, it is worthnoting the protected veal of thePyrenees, all of the by-productsfrom the slaughtering of the pork;the cheese from Cendrat delMontsec, the cheese and thebutter from Cadí, the driedsausages like the famous xolis(cured salchichón) or the girella(the only Catalan lamb baseddried sausage). We must notforget the products from thegarden, the fruit and the forest,with the Niscalo mushrooms andescargot standing out. Inaddition, we have the extra virginolive oil from the Garrigues andthe certificate of origin wine fromthe Costers del Segre. And when referring to the typicaldishes and distinct elaborationsof meals we think of the escargotin a variety of versions: a lallauna (on the pan) or a labrutesca (with abundant salt),and other meals such as theflatbread with escalivada (grilledpeppers and aubergine), thecassola de tros (regional dish)and the famous Aranese soup,among other specialtiespresented in the traditional disheswhich live in perfect harmony with

ROMANESQUE ART OFTHE BOÍ VALLEY

Time goes by slowly in themountain valleys of the Lleidaprovince. Despite its reducedpopulation, it has maintained itsidentity with the characteristics ofits Romanesque churches,crystalline waters, deliciousgastronomy … From our campsites, eachexperience has its own name:that of cultural patrimony whichcontains truly magnificentconstructions immersed in asuperb landscape. The Romanesque, in all itssplendor, finds its reference pointin the Boí Valley. One of themost interesting in Europe,declared a World Heritage Site bythe UNESCO, are the templesbuilt by Taüll and Erill la Vall.The integration, in a beautifulnatural area, of these simple andaustere constructionscomplements and highlights thelandscape. How did they arrive tothese distant villages nestled inthe mountains in the 12th century?

AIGÜESTORTES, THELUNG OF THE

PYRENEESThe Aigüestortes and SaintMaurici Lake National Park is oneof the lungs of the Pyrenees ofLleida and the only National Parkin Catalonia. It is located in thenorth of Lleida between thecounties of Pallars Sobirà andthe Alta Ribagorça. It has an extension of 14.119hectares and was declared aNational Park in 1995. Moreover,it is part of the Special ProtectedZone for Birds (ZEPA) and alsothe Important WetlandsInternational. The Portarró deEspot pass, at a height of 2.400meters, joins these two sectors. The lands of the National Parkwere formed in the Paleozoic eraand established on a bed slateand granite. It has landscapes ofgreat beauty such as theColomers Couloir, the Mata ofValència dÀneu, the Cabdellalakes and the Encantadosmountains.

THE MONT-REBEICANYON

In this corner of thePre-Pyrenees, in the counties ofNoguera and Pallars Jussà, laysthe most spectacular landscapeof Catalonia in and around theMont-rebei canyon. It is anincredible wall of limestone rockcrossed through by the NogueraRibagorzan river and is thenatural border between Cataloniaand Aragón. Spectacular notonly for visual landscape, virginand abrupt, but also for thesingularity of its itinerariesexcavated from the rock.Moreover, it is the only greatcanyon in all of Catalonia. The pine forests remainsecondary before the rocky wallsand the narrow passageways theriver has carved out over millionsof years keeping open thepassage from the Montsec ridgeon its way down from thePyrenean peaks to the valley ofthe Ebro River. The canyon, withvertical walls reaching 500meters in some parts impresseseven the most adventurous. This is an incomparable scene forornithology enthusiasts as well asaction sports as this area is oneof the preferred destinations forhiking, mountain biking, climbingand paragliding.

MONTSEC, STARLIGHTDESTINATION

A great way to come to know thePre-Pyrenees of Lleida inCatalonia is to travel to thenortheast of the province, inMontsec, Starlight Destination.There you will find a wild andexciting territory. Why? Because in no other placein Catalonia can you see thestars with such clarity. From theAstronomy Park of Montsec youcan observe the clean andextensive universe. In this areayou will find minimal rainfall,moderate humidity and numerousserene nights. Do you feel like dreaming,travelling, disconnecting? Youknow, now, where they arewaiting for you with open arms. And to complete your escape,nothing better than staying in aluxurious bungalow close to yourbeloved stars.

CADÍ-MOIXERÓNATURAL PARK

This protected Catalan naturalpark has the largest numbers offlora and fauna of interest inEurope. It has a surface area of 41.342hectares, one of the largestnature parks of Catalonia inconjunction with the new NaturePark of the Alto Pirineo. It isincludes three counties: AltUrgell, Berguedà and Cerdanya. The two grand ridges of theCadí-Moixeró, united by thepass called Tancalporta, make upan incredible mountain barrierwhich runs from the west to theeast along 30 km in the waterdivide of the Segre (Cerdanya-AltUrgell) and the Llobregat(Barcelona). Of significant importance is thePedraforca mountain as it is oneof the most visited mountains andis steeped in Catalan alpinetradition as it offers climbers aperfect combination of risk andbeauty. It is one of the symbolsfor hiking in Catalonia.

ALT PIRINEU NATUREPARK

The Nature Park of the AltoPirineo (high Pyrenees) isanother privileged area. Itssurface area totals more than60.000 hectares, making it thelargest of all of Catalonia. It isnestled between Pallars Sobiràand Alt Urgell and offers a widediversity of landscapes andecosystems. Going into the park we can seebears, otters, vultures, whitegrouse, the Pyrenees lizard andthe Pyrenean desman, a strangeanimal from the mole familywhich is indigenous to the region. There are zones which stand outfor their geological interest. TheCertascan lake, the largestglacial lake of Catalonia, theCigalera of the Obaga of Valeran(or of Jean Paul Larrégola)which holds one of the deepestchasms of the Catalan territoryand is home to elements ofenormous natural value, such asa subterranean lake and variouslarge galleries.

VAL D’ARAN

It is at its best all year round. Youwill feel really moved by Vald’Aran. If you love the snow, BaqueiraBeret awaits you with itsneverending kilometres of everylevel of ski slope. CLIMBING PARADISE

Sant Llorenc de Montgai andCamarasa, in the region of LaNoguera (Pre-Pyrenees ofLleida), are some of the oldestclimbing areas in Catalonia.Along with Santa Lina, Cubells,Tartareu, Vilanova de MeiaTarradets offer a variety of pathsopen. Sant Llorenc de Montgai, most ofthe walls are located in thevalleys facing south. Therefore,the climbing routes are in goodconditions during the fall, winterand spring. Orientated toCamarasa, the tracks arenorthwest and, therefore, areperfect for summer mornings. In the region of Alta Ribagorza,near the Cavallers dam arenumerous ways with differentdifficulties, ranging from 10 to1,000m climbing on a magnificentgranite. We also find ways in thearea of the refuge Ventosa iCalvell and Agullesde Travessani i Mangades.

HAVE YOU EVER TRIEDRAFTING?

Do you need to burn adrenaline?If the answer is yes, rafting isperfect for you. Running downrivers of varied difficulty in acanoe or kayak. Depending on the turbulence, thespeed of the current and thepresence or lack of whirlpools,each section of the river will havea different difficulty grade. SKI BOÍ TAÜLL

Boi Taull ski resort offerseverything the skier could wishfor in order to enjoy his or herfavourite sport. At the highest point of thePyrenees 2.751m and 2.020m atits lowest point, it is privilegedfacing north and guaranteesexcellent snow quality during thewhole season.

SKI ALT URGELL

Situated between Alt Urgell andPallars, in Alt Pirineu’snatural park, we find Sant Joande l’Erm, which is a pioneerin Nordic skiing in our country. Itboasts circuits for all levels ofskiing or racket skiing overspectacular fir, birch and blackpine tree forests. In this region you will also find theNordic ski spot Tuixent La Vansa.

SKI CERDANYA

LLES CERDANYA Located in the western part of theSierra del Cadi, over anexceptional view of the Pyrenees. Besides skiing, you can makenature walks with snowshoes in aclosed circuit of 10 Km. It is aunique way to enjoy the woodsand nature.

SKI PORT DEL COMTE

Located in the country ofSolsonès, on the northern slopeof the Querol mountain range,near the Tossal de Estivella. This resort starts at 1.700m andreaches 2.400m in altitude. Thereare a total of 16 lifts with acapacity of transporting 16.060people per hour. The snowproduction system is made up of256 snow machines spread over37 pistes.

SKI PALLARS

Port Aine has over 30 km ofslopes and 800 vertical meterssuitable for all levels and types ofskiers or snowboarders. All tracksare in the Natural Park of theHigh Pyrenees and stand out fortheir integration into a mountainlandscape and its wonderfulviews towards the Pyrenees. Spot is the only station locatednext to Aigüestortes and SantMaurici National Park. The resorthas over 20km of ski slopes and1,000 vertical meters. The tracksare well known for being in lushpine forests. BAQUEIRA BERET The resort of the Val d’Arangets its name from the village ofBaqueira and the Beret flats,which is on the way to Montgarri.It has 35 lifts with a transportcapacity of 60.683 people perhour. For the more adventurous,Bassibe, which was a peakreserved exclusively for freeriders and backcountry skiersdecided to climb to its summit,has bas been opened with aneasy access to its different runsby the new Saumet lift.
