FIRST AID ASSEMBLY

Mrs Brindley has led a few assemblies with a view to first aid. In the most recent assembly, she had some willing ‘victims’ who, with the help of Mrs Flook, certainly looked in need of first aid! We hope the

children found it informative.

CHESS

We have done it again! We won our last and final chess match of the sea-son. By winning all six

matches played, we have retained the South Gloucestershire

Primary School Chess Trophy.

Kaya, Charlie, Evan, Kurtis and Connor all won their games securing victory on

boards 1-5. While Kieron, Hayden, Grace, Kai, Alexander and Olivia played lots of friendly games gaining valuable experi-

ence for the future. Well done everyone and a big thank you

to the parents who have ferried their chil-dren around during the past season.

LOST PROPERTY

One of our year 6 students has lost a blue digital watch. If anybody finds it, please could this and any other ‘found’ property be brought to the office in the hopes we may re-unite the items with their owners.

Found school uniform is placed in the lost property bin in the KS1 cloakroom. Parents are welcome to look through this at the end of the school day. Once a term a parent volunteer sorts the lost property. Labelled items are returned to their owners, please ensure all items are named clearly.

FOODBANK

If you are able, the current shopping list is as follows:

Jars of Pasta Sauce, Small tins of Fruit, Razors, Tinned Mushrooms, Tinned Dog Food, Tomato Sauce, Brown Sauce, Small Tins of Potatoes, Sachets of Custard, Wash-ing Up Liquid, Tinned Green/Broad Beans, Tinned Minced Beef, Tinned Macaroni Cheese, Size 6 Nappies Please note that you can drop off your donations in the collection box at Sainsburys Emersons Green.

TRANSITION TO SECONDARY SCHOOL—FROM A PARENT’S PERSPECTIVE

Meeting for all Year 6 parents about the transition to secondary school from a parent’s perspective. Georgi-

na Tankard, a parent and former secondary school teacher, will be hosting and sharing her hints and tips.

Meeting at 9-9.30am on Tuesday 4th June.

CLASS & CLUB PHOTOS

Tulip Photography have delivered the proofs for the class photos to school this week and these have been sent home. The deadline for parents to place orders is: Monday 16th May.

ParentPay

As a school we are moving over to a new payments system from SIMS PAY to ParentPay this weekend. ParentPay allows parents and carers to login to a secure website, upload a monetary balance and pre-book children’s meals and pay for upcoming school trips and events as they occur.

A letter went home to all pupils last Friday 3rd July, each letter contained an activation code and password to register your child online. Once activated parents can add multiple children to their account allowing you to manage payments for siblings at this and other ParentPay schools in one centralised account.

What do you do next?

1. Visit www.parentpay.com This can be viewed on a browser window on a phone with options to add the tab to your phone for quick access.

2. LOGIN : Login to ParentPay and activate your child’s account. If they have a sibling at the school, use the “add a child” feature to the central account.

3. TOP UP FUNDS : Securely add money balance to your account in readiness to book meals and trips.

4. PRE-BOOK MEALS : Sit with your child and view the menu to pre-book all their school meals for the following week. Here you can view nutritional information and allergy ad-vice. If you have notified school of specific dietary needs, alternative menu choices will be available. Children will not choose meals at registration, these should be pre-booked via ParentPay. Meals can be booked up to 3 week in advance. KS1 PARENTS : If your child is in KS1 and entitled to Universal Free School Meals, please LOGIN AND BOOK your child’s meal, you will not be charged.

Payments into SIMS PAY for meals will stop on Friday 10th May and all balances will be transferred to the new ParentPay system. SIMS PAY will continue for trips only for a short period until the transfer to the new system is completed. If there is debt accrued on the SIMS PAY system, this will be transferred to ParentPay as a one off debt to be cleared. If you have any queries please contact Meryl in the school office and she will endeavour to help.

FAQ

1. What about trips I have paid/still to pay for on SIMS? These trips are still going ahead, continue with SIMS PAY as before. If you need a login please visit the office to confirm your email address and request your invitation code .

2. My child is on Free school meals/ universal free school meals, what do I need to do? Please login and book your child’s meals. View the menus and make your selections in advance.

3. I didn’t receive a copy of the activation letter, what do I do? Come to the school office, copies can be issued to parents.

4. I need more than one person to be able to pay for and choose my child’s meals, what do I do? We can set up a secondary payer account for any child as required. Please visit the office to request.

If you want further information about ParentPay, there will be a presentation in the school hall on Tuesday 21st May straight after school drop off.
