Representing More Than 30 Years Of Our Focus On Efficient Productivity,Maternal Soundness, Uniform Style, Longevity, and Profitability

Multiple Generations of Easy-Calving, Problem-Free, Solid-Black, Polled Cattle…Reliable, Dependable Stock From Our Best Female Lines

The 2011

“Big Picture” Female Sale

Dear friends,

What a year this has been! From extreme drought conditions in the South to unprece-

dented flooding in the North. From serious economic challenges for our nation as a

whole to some of our best times in agriculture. While much of what we experience in

agriculture is beyond our control, my perspective is to work hard and make a difference

in my corner of the world with what I can change. I was told by a young man not long

ago, “If you build it, they will come”. My desire, Lord willing, is to continue to build

and construct Maine-Anjou and Angus cattle that move us and our customers forward.

This has been a great year for GVC genetics as well. Our 2011 sire sale was our best on

record and featured some of the most popular individuals we’ve ever produced while

our females have gained even greater acceptance than ever. Congratulations to each of

the families who have had a great year with last year’s female purchases; your hard

work and diligence have paid off. I trust you will find this year’s set of females to be

“better than ever”, and I truly think this is the best offering we have been able to offer.

You will note that we have chosen to retain the right to some ET flushes on several of the open heifers. This is the only

way I know to share more of “the cream of the crop” yet still be able to use those genetics to move our program forward.

We have continued to stack more generations of homozygous genetic traits (HB, HS, HP) with the number of generations

of those traits noted in the footnotes whenever it applies. If you have any questions concerning this, don’t hesitate to call.

In the bred cow offering, there are females that have done a great job here with several Pathfinders and dams of recent

top sellers being offered. It’s really hard to part with some of these females but we know we need to share some of our

best producers each year in order to advance both our program and yours. The Wide Track influence has been huge in

our program – you will see it on the bottom of several of our most popular products - and there won’t be many Wide

Track daughters left here after this sale. The last of our Jethro daughters sell this year and you can see their track record

in the heifer calf offering and recent bull sales. Our Boyd New Day females have had a great impact on the Angus herd

and we have opened the gate on the majority of those with several top performers included. Our fall pairs are especially

strong and they have been some of the best buys in recent years. We’re offering a deep selection of females in this divi-

sion and several have excellent calves beside them.

From a “Big Picture” perspective, we continue to strive to improve our quality, uniformity, maternal strength, udder

quality, and EPD excellence based on accurate and complete reporting of data. These are exciting times at Green Valley

and we’re anxious to see how you evaluate our progress on November 19th.

Tom Osborne (one of my heroes) once said, “Work hard, stay focused, and surround yourself with talented people”. As

I think about the talented people aspect I think of the great folks I get to work with most every day including my wife

Sandra, Corey Pacha, and Merlyn Williams, and my sister, Linda. Also Craig Reiter, BJ Eick, and the crew at Prime-

TIME. I will strive to continue to do my part but it is really just a small part.

We would love to host you on our ranch on or before the auction. Please don’t hesitate to call or stop by if I can answer

any questions.

Respectfully,Dennis Garwood

P.S. In an attempt to assist out friends and customers from drought-stricken regions of southern USA and to let you

know that we feel for you, we’ll be happy to load your trailer with one 6’X6’ round bale of native prairie hay for each lot

purchased. Bring a big trailer!

Keeping up with Baby Zade! Our grandson born to Tysonand Sarah Ratliff is now

9 mos. Old!

We are anxiously awaitingthe arrival of Vance andEllie’s new baby girl

Dennis,

I thought I would drop you anote regarding our 2010 femalepurchases. The cows are doingvery well and the Lot 45 bredheifer we purchased for $4,000just produced a purebred I-80steer that we sold for $4,000 toTexas.

Thanks again,Brent SieckSieck Club CalvesMartell, NE

Dennis,

I wanted to let you know that we have had great suc-cess with the females we purchased on last year’s female sale. All of the females calved out easily anddid a great job of raising their calves. We feel that afew of the calves out of the cows purchased last yearmore than paid for their mothers already includinga new herd sire prospect and a top female. We arevery excited about their genetic potential and arelooking forward to utilizing them within our herd.

Here is a little bit more information on the cowsthat we purchased:The 577R Nasa daughter had a very attractive Suhheifer that is one of the best we’ve had this year. The

194L Jethro daughter had a Closing Bell bull in May that we are very excited about and will likely bekept for our new herd sire. The W08 Angus heiferhad a Final Answer bull calf that is nice and hassparked the interest of visitors this summer. Finally,643S Forecast had a First Impression heifer that is veryattractive, and will be kept in our replacement pen.
