OVERVIEWThe Greater Rochester Community Transportation Foundation (GRCTF) provides a vital link to transportation for local community organizations. While many service organizations have the capacity to raise funds to provide valuable services and activities for those whom they serve, often they find the expense of transportation beyond the scope of their budget. That’s where GRCTF can step in and help.

Since February 2000, GRCTF has provided funding to help transport more than 9,000 people served by community organizations to a wide variety of activities including tutoring, support services, college tours, museums, and sporting events. The money to support these grants is raised at the Foundation’s annual golf tournament.

OverviewWho We Are

OUR MISSIONTo provide financial assistance for transportation to groups or organizations to enable them to provide activities with an educational, cultural or athletic focus, or that contributes to the health, well-being or personal growth of people that would otherwise not be possible due to the lack of transportation.

The 2012-13 fiscal year marked the 13th year of the Greater Rochester Community Transportation Foundation. The Foundation was successful in raising almost $50,000 to support its mission, largely through the 12th Annual Foundation Golf Tournament, held in September. In continuance of the Foundation’s mission, we awarded 12 grants that provided transportation to approximately 1,500 people from our community. - Joy Pacheco Executive Director

The close of the 2012-13 fiscal year marks a time of transition for the Greater Rochester Community Transportation Foundation. Since its inception in 2000, Bernie Iacovangelo has served on the Board of Directors -- guiding policy and helping to raise funds to support the transportation needs of dozens of not-for-profit organizations serving our community. As Bernie steps down from his position as Chairman, we commend and thank him for his generous service and leadership, which has benefited our community in such a meaningful way.

“The Greater Rochester Community Transportation Foundation enabled 33 low-income children to participate in 10 weekly field trips in 2012 by funding bus transportation for the all-day summer program, Camp Ventures. These field trips provided the essential experiential learning component of the program, extending education beyond the classroom and into the community. Each week had a theme, which the children researched during the literacy component, and included subjects such as animals, local history, astronomy, aquatic life, sports, and health. At the end of each week, the students took a field trip relating to that week’s theme. Combining literacy and experience encourages academic success and engagement in the world around them. These experiential learning field trips have been very successful in past years, and are probably the most fun and exciting aspect of the Camp Ventures program. The field trips introduce the children to a myriad of places and enriching experiences in other parts of the city and out in the country, which they otherwise might not have the opportunity to experience.”

- Rodric Cox-Cooper CEO, Wilson Commencement Park
