These slides were used during our church's workers' retreat. The book has been inspirational to me during my personal retreat, so I thought of sharing this to the team. It's a clear admission that though we are human, our God is good and beautiful no matter our circumstances. :-)

Jesus’ Direction We cannot change by our own will power. Only by the

power of the Holy Spirit, with the submission of:

The mind (repent, change in narratives)

The body (new practices)

Social aspect (change in environment, people)

We can change indirectly – Jesus taught in stories, parables.

1. Sleep An act of surrender, we admit that we are humans, and

God is the God who never sleeps.

Recharge, 8.5 hrs a day.

The LORD grants sleep to those He loves.

GOD is rest.

2. Silence and awareness of creation Find a place to just be.

Unplug.

Be aware of that God is near, holy, caring, merciful, beautiful

Stare at the mirror.

3. Counting Your Blessings What do you see on this paper?

List down the wonderful things God blessed you with (loved ones, provisions, opportunities, creation, food)

GOD is trustworthy.

4. Praying Psalm 23 God is caring for us.

“Pray” Psalm 23 everyday, until you’ve memorised it.

GOD is generous.

5. Lectio Divina Read the Bible, but not rushed.

Read the Bible as a LOVE letter.

Listen with your heart.

GOD is love.

6. Margin Respect time and place.

Slow down. Don’t’ Rush here and there!!!

Eliminate unnecessary things/activities in your life.

Just say No.

Check and clean up your schedule.

Margin restores balance and your soul – space for JOY!!!

GOD is holy.

7. Reading the Gospel John Who Jesus is

John begins with a prologue that tells us about the Logos, the Word or the Son of God, who was “made flesh, and dwelt among us.”

John’s Gospel clearly depicts Jesus’ relationship with his heavenly Father.

GOD is self-sacrificing.

8. Solitude Alone time vs Quiet time

Just enjoy the Now.

Listen to God.

In your usual places, spot 5 new things.

9. Slowing down We take on so many things and are concerned about

the working things and miss the important things.

Enjoy the natural time.
