Words From Your Treasurer

Hey District Board!

I would like to wish everyone a Happy New

Year. I hope that everyone is off to a great start to

2014. As a reminder to everyone about dues, all

clubs that have not paid dues are delinquent. On

March 1, clubs who still have not paid dues will be

suspended. Delinquent and suspended clubs cannot

have delegates or candidates for higher office at the

Leadership Training Conference or the International

Convention. Please remind your clubs to submit dues,

because our district would not be able to run

smoothly without them.

Yours in the spirit of service,

Alexander Mok

District Treasurer 2013 – 2014

Our board meeting is quickly arriving, but there is still time to make sure that you

complete a couple of things. Please be sure that a board report and a committee report

is completed and sent to the appropriate people. Complete the LTC Workshop and the

LTC Walk-In Song Forms, secure transportation to and from the Desmond, and read

Secretary Helen’s Call to Mid-Winter Board. Finally, please have an explanation as to why

your clubs have not sent in dues.

Role of Club Treasurer

What should a Club Treasurer be doing in January?

The Festive Idea

New Year’s Resolutions

As a club, have each

member set five New Year’s

resolutions. When one

resolution is broken, have

the member pay a certain

amount.

In January, they should be:

Holding fundraisers and sending in FRFs and proofs

Creating a binder for the Distinguished Club Treasurer

Award

Creating a binder to pass down to future Club

Treasurers

January Fundraising Ideas

The Low Budget Idea

Guess the Number

Fill a glass jar or container

with a known number of

small objects like marbles or

balls. Charge students a

dollar to guess the number of

objects in the jar. The closest

guess wins.

The Extra Special Idea

Masquerade Ball

Hold a masquerade ball

filled with music, games,

dancing, and other fun

activities! Charge admission

and donate the profits to

charity.

District and International Dues Collection

Below you will find a breakdown of how every club member’s dues are used. The

money is never gone to waste, and it is important to tell current and prospective

members where their money is going.

For the 2013 – 2014 service year, dues will be $12.50 in addition to the optional

$1 – $3 that each club can add. The breakdown of dues is shown below.

Look on Page 10 to find out which of your clubs have and have not had their

checks and invoices processed by International. If there is no “X” next to your

school’s name, that means the club has not submitted dues yet. Please remind

them of the importance of dues submission. Also remind them that you,

International, and I are here to answer any questions about dues.
