players. Constituting only 0,5 % of the world’s aquaculture- and fishing companies, their revenue makes up 18 %

of the global turnover. They represent 11-16 % of the total global marine catch, and control 19-40 % of several of

the world’s largest or most profitable fisheries.

CANADA❑ Having the world’s longest coastline, Canada produces nearly 1 000 000 tones seafood on an annual basis

FAROE ISLANDS❑ The fish industry is the largest industry and constitutes 97 % of the export market

❑ The Faroe Islands have made them selves known as a quality producer of Atlantic salmon

❑ Their strategic location enables them to being able to deliver salmon to the United States within 72 hours from harvest

❑ The ocean is never more than 5 kilometers away, regardless on your whereabouts on the island

❑ Their seafood consumption is within the highest in the world; each of the 50 000 inhabitants consume an average of 88 kilos of seafood annually

INDONESIA❑ With 250 million inhabitants, the country is the fourth most populous nation in the world

❑ Indonesia has the second longest coastline in the world (after Canada) and produces 15 million ton seafood annually. Have increased wild catch from 6,5 to 12,5 million tons since 2014.

❑ Three million people work within the industry.

❑ While the country is a leading tuna producer, schrimps is the biggest export.

❑ The average Indonesian consumes 28.5 kilos seafood a year.

❑ The national dish Nasi Goreng came in second amongst the worlds’ most beloved dishes according to CNN. It may otherwise be noted that the annual of consumption of rice is 114 kilos per person.

JAPAN❑ The annual seafood production is 4.9 million ton, on top of this another 4.6 million is imported.

❑ Shrimps, tuna, salmon and trout makes up the largest import, and constitutes 40 % of all seafood.

CHILE❑ With their more than 4000 km long coastline, Chile is the sixth largest producer

of seafood in the world

❑ Employing 90 000 people, and with an yearly production of 3 600 000 tones, seafood is a significant contributor to the country's economy
