We have another great meeting planned for November 13. Not only do we have another interesting program planned (See Page 2), but the prizes for this month’s raffle are even better than ever with a great mix of items including a 10 ounce silver bar as the top prize! Also, remember that our last auction of the year is this month so be sure to bring those items you were looking to sell and also be prepared to buy lots of great coins. Last chance to pick up those numismatic gifts before the Holidays! Please come out Friday evening for what should be a really fun meeting. See you all on Friday, Mike

Thank you to everyone who helped with our annual coin show on October 25 at the Van Nuys Masonic Lodge! Thank you as well to all who attended the show and supported our dealers. The show was another great success with terrific public attendance and lots of positive feedback from our dealers. In addition, we had another year of strong ticket sales for our annual gold and silver coin raffle and several happy winners. Great job and thanks again to all who helped sell raffle tickets and congrats to all of the prize winners! I am already looking forward to next year’s show! Minting Errors

This month, Ed Quon will be presenting an short program on United States coin minting errors. An error coin is a coin that was manufactured incorrectly by a mint. Many times called mint errors, error coins come in different shapes, sizes and types. The many variations of minted errors bring excitement and uniqueness in collecting them. Please come out to our next meeting to learn more about the exciting world of collecting mint errors!

If you are not already a member of the Numismatic Association of Southern California, I again urge you to join. Until the end of 2015, memberships are available for only $10 for the first year! With your membership, you will receive a print subscription to the award winning publication, The California Numismatist, which is edited by Greg Burns. That alone is well worth the membership cost as it has great articles and lots of information about local clubs and local coin shows. The NASC also does a lot of good work to help support area coin clubs, including our Glendale Coin Club. For example, through their annual gold coin drawing, our club was able to earn over $200! Please consider joining and see Michael Kittle if you would like a membership application. If you wait until 2016, it will cost you more to join!

If you are not already a member of the American Numismatic Association, now is the perfect time to join! A regular membership in the ANA is a minimum $28. Recently, the ANA provided our club with a limited number of complimentary memberships to the ANA for us to use as we wish. They are available only to those who are not currently members and who have not been members in the last couple of years. Remember that the ANA World’s Fair of Money will be held in Anaheim in August 2016. With your membership in the ANA, you will be able to register for that show in advance and receive free admission. You will also have electronic access to The Numismatist magazine including all back issues! Please consider joining and see Michael Kittle if you would like a membership application.
