Origins of The Giant Plakat
Mid year 1999 in Thailand, Mr Athapon (Uncle Sala) and his son Mr Natee
found a very large specimen of a green traditional male plakat about 4
inches in one of his ponds in his fish farm
Search through over 400 cement ponds to search for the biggest female
plakat in an attempt to breed giant size plakats
By year 2001, many large strains of giant bettas are created: long fins and
plakats through selective breeding

Many thai breeders began to buy giant plakats from Uncle Sala’s farm.
Pioneer thai giant legendary breeders such as Uncle Daeng, Surat aka
Ram91, Interfish, Taebetta, Bung Plakats Rayong, JJgiantbettafarm
continued to improve the new generations of the Giant Plakat
In the last few years, giant breeders such as KKBetta fish, Cupang Pasid,
Ivan F.Simanjuntak, Ryo Sulivan, Hafiyyan Betta and many others in
Indonesia coming up with many beautiful giant plakats
Why is Giant Plakat so Unique?
Much larger than a fully grown adult plakat. Can grow up to 4 inches in full
length
Huge appetite, eat 5 times as much as the normal plakat. Hence,
produced 5 times as much debris
Large size body and you can see their facial features clearly

Big appetite, messy eater, produce huge pile of debris….nightmare to
maintain water quality
Recommended tank size would be a minimum of 1ft tank
Tank water level 60-70% and the tank should be partially covered
Singapore Tap Water Safe?
Accordingly to PUB website, Singapore tap water is safe for human consumption based on the WHO Guidelines for Drinking-water Quality(https://www.pub.gov.sg/watersupply/waterquality/drinkingwater)
Is it safe for our fishes?
Many years back, fish hobbyists only need to eliminate the chlorine present in the tap water by aging the tap water overnight. Those days, water conditioner is primarily removing chlorine
Recent years, the inclusion of both chlorine and chloramine to treat our raw water. Chloramine cannot be removed by aging the water.

How to Treat Your Tap Water for Bettas?
Use a 2ft tank to age and treat your tap water
Fill up the 2ft tank (80% water level) with an Internal power filter or corner
filter
Add in 1 small capful of Seachem Prime water conditioner
Let the filtration system run for 3-4 days
How to Treat Your Tap Water for Bettas?(Alkaline Ionized Water)
Various Alkaline Ionized Water filtration systems such as eSpring, hydroflux,
diamond water and calstar are some of the water purification system for
your consideration
Add a few drops of seachem prime in 5 litres containers
Conducting Water Change
For 1ft tank, 100% water change to be conducted once a week
Ensure that the tanks are scrubbed and clean
Add it a pinch of EIHO water Stabliser, aquarium salt, 1-2 drops of vitamin
complex, 2-3 drops of ATM paradigm water conditioner
Add in Ketapang juice until the tank water is slightly brownish

2. Fill up the hospital tank with treated aged water (50% water level)
3. Add in 4-6 drops of Tetra General Tonic
4. Add in a pinch of aquarium salt

For fast treatment,
• Put the giant plakat in a 1ft tank with 80% water level
• Add aquarium salt
• Put in the water heater, adjust the temperature to 30 degree celsius
• Will recover within 2 days
