DANISH OCCUPATION.
The occupation of Denmark by Nazi Germany during World War II lasted from April 8, 1940 to May 5, 1945. It began with the invasion of Denmark and it finished when British soldiers assured the surrender of the Wehrmacht units without resistance.
DANISH OCCUPATION
In total throughout the war 850 members of the Danish resistance were killed, 900 Danish civilians also died and a total of 43 Danish soldiers were killed during the invasion of 1940 and 1943 Nazi repression. Furthermore, another 100 Danish soldiers died fighting as allies with 1,850 sailors.
The rescue of the Danish Jews was a historical event: the October 1, 1943 Adolf Hitler ordered the arrest and deportation of Danish Jews. The Danish resistance movement managed to escape by boat to neutral Sweden about 8,000 Danish Jews. The rescue allowed the Holocaust salvation of the majority of the Jewish population of Denmark.
POLISH OCCUPATION.
The German occupation of Poland was exceptionally brutal, because the Nazis considered the Polish to be racially inferior. The Germans began a campaign of terror, firing to thousands of Polish and requiring all the men to make forced labour. The Nazis wanted to destroy Polish culture with the elimination of Polish politics, religious, and intellectual leadership.
POLISH OCCUPATION
The Polish resistance organized a massive violent uprising against the Germans in Warsaw in August 1944. The revolt lasted two months but it was eventually crushed by the Germans. Over 200,000 Poles died in the uprising.
It is estimated that the Germans killed at least 1.9 million non-Jewish Poles during World War II. In addition, the Germans murdered at least 3 million Jewish citizens of Poland.
NORWISH OCCUPATION
The Occupation of Norway by Nazi Germany began April 9, 1940. Some weeks later they were in possession of all the Norwegian territory and they established a military administration which coexisted with a civilian government formed by Norwegian supporters of Nazi Germany. This occupation lasted until May 8, 1945, with the surrender of German troops in Europe, and it was established the named Reichskommissariat Norwegen.
NORWISH OCCUPATION After mid-1944 the Soviet Union launched a counterattack
against German forces in Finland; Red Army units entered Norwegian territory at the beginning of the winter of 1944 and they occupied during weeks Finnmark, the northern of Norway, where the German authorities ordered a mass evacuation of civilians Norwegian amid arctic winter. The low significance of the war against Soviet troops caused none progress through the icy mountainous regions of Northern Norway, compared to other much more critical fronts. However, the Germans ordered an scorched earth plan that, together with the harsh winter of Finnmark, caused great hardship to the Norwegian population of that region.
