L e t t e r s t h a t l a s t a l i f e t im e . The Weekend of July 13th, brother Anthony Cavataio
and Domain Director/ Alumni of Gamma Lambda,
J.J. Lewis, headed down to Miami University for the
off-year convention called Conclave. At Conclave,
brothers from across the nation gathered to help
improve our fraternity. Conclave consists of a State
of the Fraternity announcementmade by our national president
Steve Nelson. Later
undergraduates were given a
tour of the university on its
history about not only Phi
Kappa Tau, but other Greek
organizations as well.

Other activities included a model initiation,
committee meetings, a recognition luncheon, a
national council meeting, and of course a
brotherhood banquet. The recognition luncheon was
when Gamma Lambda really shined, taking four
different awards. These awards included the
Pacesetter Award for outstanding recruitment, the
Philanthropy Merit Award for raising more than
$2,000 for the SeriousFun Network, the best
Community Service Plan Award for having a total of
54 community service hours per man, and finally the
Order of the Star Award for receiving Maxwell status
in almost every category of the Boradaille Challenge.
Although being recognized multiple times during thisluncheon was great, Cavataio says, My favorite
part was meeting
all these brothers
from across the
nation. It really
opens your eyes
to the fact that we
are a part ofsomething much
bigger than
ourselves. The
Phi Kappa Tau National Convention for 2014 will be
held in Washington D.C. next summer.

With over 10 brothers in attendance,
the first annual Dads N Lads was a
huge success.
Work weekends can often be long, hot, boring,
and tiresome, but with the help of a few of our
undergraduate members fathers anything can be
accomplished. The idea first came from Active
brother Alex Krul, and was discussed at meeting.
After finalizing a date for the event Brother Alex
and Brother James Willard worked hard to come up
with projects, and a schedule for the day. Some of
these projects included repaneling the front porch,
staining both the front and back porch, re-painting
the inside of the house, re-vamping our back room,
and other smaller projects. The Gamma Lambda
Chapter would like to thank everyone who came
out in support. Dads N Lads will be back next
summer, and we would like to invite all
parents and alumni to this event in the future.

The Brothers Trust Fund
The Brothers Trust is a group of Phi Kappa Tau undergraduates who have decided to
expand their support of their Fraternity by making a financial contribution to the Phi Kappa
Tau Foundation. By joining the Brothers Trust, you join your alumni counterparts in
supporting Phi Kappa Tau by establishing
an early commendable pattern of giving
that will help Phi Kappa Tau today and for
generations to come.
In honor of the 100-year anniversary of Phi KappaTau, the national office built a centennial garden
where a shield from each chapter will eventuallyhang. We at Gamma Lambda would like tochallenge our Alumni, Parents, riends, and ActiveBrothers to donate a minimum of $19.65 in honorof our founding year.
