Teddy Bear Run
November 2, 2013
Our "Teddy Bear Run" with the
Blue Nights is taking shape. I met with
Tommy Edwards for quite a while on
Tuesday night to get all the
information. I am really excited as this
is going to be one of the biggest,
coolest most fun cruise, car show, that
I think we have done. Please, I know
we have plenty of time, but mark your
calendars NOW.
The Teddy Bear Run is Saturday
November 2, 2013. I will discuss this
with the club at our June meeting so
please attend I guarantee you will love
this. We are putting a lot of work into
this and need a BIG turnout. If you
have any questions or cannot attend
the June meeting please call me at

CVMC Cruise In’s for
2013
COME ON AND GO ON A
CRUISE OR A CRUISE IN.
Your Cruise committee tries to
schedule a monthly event in the
months of April thru December. We
know everyone can't go to all of the
events for various reasons. That is
why we try to have at least one per
month so everyone can get to one or
more. For those of you that have been
on previous events, I believe we have
had a lot of fun. Come out and meet
fellow club members and their
families. Meet members of other car
clubs. Get valuable information about
Ford Mustangs and other Ford models
.Our charity Cruise-In to McGuire
Veterans Hospital last fall was a
wonderful event. To see the smiles on
the veterans faces looking at the cars
was priceless. There is a lot of
volunteer time and hours that go into
planning and coordinating these
events. So bring the family out to a
Cruise- In picnic or any of these fun
filled events. If you have an event you
would like to suggest, let your Cruise
Committee know your thoughts on it .
We will try to make it happen if at all
possible.

News From The
Blue Oval
Mustang 50th
Birthday
Celebration Up-Date
2015 Ford Mustang Spy
Photos Revealed
By: Wes Raynal on 8/20/2013
No doubt Ford's biggest news
next year is the new 2015 Mustang,
launched to help the Blue Oval
celebrate the pony car's 50th
anniversary. Today we're getting our
best look yet at the face of the next
Mustang.
There are significant changes
afoot: We've been reporting for
months the new car could look more
like the Evos concept car Ford showed
at the 2011 Frankfurt motor show.
Additionally, the sixth-generation
Mustang will get independent rear
suspension and will be offered with
turbocharging -- or EcoBoost, in
Fordspeak -- for the first time since
the '80s SVO Mustang. Look for both
turbo-fours and -sixes, and we'd be
stunned if a V8 wasn't also offered;
Automotive News says the four could
produce upward of 300 hp. The new
car will be roughly the same size as
the outgoing car, and a right-hand-
Page 6
drive model is expected for the U.K.
and Australia.
We're expecting production to
begin in summer 2014, so we should
be seeing more of these prototypes
running around as the year winds
down. As always, we'll keep you
posted.

Keselowski Scores 4th
Staight Nationwide Win
AUG. 10, 2013
WATKINS GLEN, N.Y. – Brad
Keselowski scored his second straight
victory in the Nationwide Series
Saturday by holding off Penske Racing
teammate Sam Hornish Jr. over the
closing laps of the Zippo 200 at
Watkins Glen International.
Keselowski has won the past
four Nationwide races he’s entered –
at Richmond, Kentucky, Iowa and the
Glen.
Keselowski, who led 46 of the
race’s 82 laps, outran the hard-
charging Hornish by 1.41 seconds.
From there it was a nine-second drop
to third-place Brian Vickers.
Completing the top five were Regan
Smith and Elliott Sadler.
Keselowski could feel Hornish
pushing him over the final laps.
“I thought he was going to beat
me,” Keselowski said. “He’s a hell of a
road-course racer. I made a couple
little mistakes. I thought he would get
me, to be honest. It just all came
together.
“The Mustangs in the
Nationwide Series are on a roll.”
The series point race tightened.
Hornish, in second place, moved to
within three points (from 14 down) of
leader Austin Dillon.
Page 7
“Brad and I had a great race,”
Hornish said of the battle of Mustangs.
“I could pressure him toward the end
of the race, but I never got close
enough to take advantage of anything.
With three laps to go, I got really
sideways through the ‘bus stop’.
“It got to the point where it felt
like I had driven 10 laps over 100
percent each of those laps. I couldn’t
get beside him to wehre I ahd a
legitimate shot to pass him. I needed
to make sure I didn’t make a mistake.”
Ford Finishing Order:
1st – Brad Keselowski
2nd – Sam Hornish Jr.
10th – Trevor Bayne
15th – Travis Pastrana
21st – Joey Logano
22nd – Michael Annett
BRAD KESELOWSKI – No. 22
Hertz Ford Mustang – VICTORY LANE
INTERVIEW: THAT WAS ALMOST
FLAWLESS. “There was definitely some
drama with the different strategies. I
really thought the 48 car could make it
on fuel, but obviously it didn’t. We
just plugged away. We had a fast car
and that’s so important. The Hertz
team and everybody at Penske Racing
did a helluva job. All three Penske cars
were fast and that’s so important.
You’ve got to have a fast car and
you’ve got to execute the weekend to
win these races and our team did that
today.” IT DIDN’T TAKE YOUR TEAM
LONG TO FIGURE OUT HOW TO MAKE
THIS MUSTANG GO FAST. “The
Mustangs are really, really fast.
Everybody has done a great job with
these Nationwide cars and it’s a
pleasure to drive when you’ve got cars
this good.” DID YOU LEARN ANYTHING
THAT WILL CARRYOVER TO
TOMORROW? “No, I think you learn
more about yourself and what your
limitations are and how hard you push
the car and know when you’re pushing
it too hard and know when you can
push it some more. I think you learn
more about yourself than you do the
cars.”
SAM HORNISH JR. – No. 12
Penske Truck Rental Ford Mustang –
WERE YOU MISSING SOMETHING
BETWEEN SECOND AND FIRST? “I was
driving the crap out of the car trying to
pressure Brad into making a mistake
and I got him to get into turn one hard
a couple times and just wore my stuff
out trying do everything I could to
figure out how to keep with him and
keep pressuring him. It was a real
good day for our Penske Truck Rental
Ford Mustang. The guys did a great
job and gave me a great car. We had
a loss in our Penske organization. A
long-time friend, Barbara Signore,
passed away this last week. She was a
good friend to the IROC Series and all
the people at Penske Racing, so we’re
going to miss her. We’re looking
forward to getting to Mid-Ohio next
weekend, but most importantly getting
home tonight to see my girls. It was a
great day. I feel very blessed to come
out here and have a good run. Third
last year, second this year, maybe
we’ll get us a win next year.” YOU’RE
DOWN THREE IN THE POINTS. “With
about five laps to go I had to have a
little bit of a gut-check on what was
more important, winning the race or
getting some points. I did everything I
could do to try to pressure Brad and to
make it a great race for the fans and I
wore my stuff out trying to keep with
him. I got to the point where I about
spun twice trying to pressure him and
trying to figure out a way to get
around him. I just decided it would be
a little bit better to get the points, and
I’m just happy because our Penske
Truck Rental Ford Mustang was really
good today. We’ve qualified on the
pole the last two years here. We
finished third last year, second this
year, so maybe we’ll come back next
year and figure out how to win one.”
WHAT WAS YOUR THOUGHT PROCESS
DOWN THE STRETCH? “The other part
of the whole deal is I’m racing my
teammate, so it’s not like it’s
somebody else. They’re running for
the owner’s championship and all the
things that are going on here at
Penske Racing and we felt really good.
We ran 1-2-3 quite a bit today with
Joey as well. It was very difficult to sit
there and want to win this race and
Page 8
what it would mean to me to be able
to win here, but, on the other hand,
the championship is very, very
important to us and that just kept
replaying to me. Every time that car
stepped out and I’d have to make a
big correction to be able to catch it,
you’ve got to be smart here and make
sure that we save the car and get
some good points today.”
TRAVIS PASTRANA – No. 60
Roush Fenway Ford Mustang – “I
didn’t really do that well in practice
and qualifying, but I thought we had a
really, really good car. I was just kind
of smooth and steady in the beginning
and moved up to 10th at one point,
and I was running with some good
cars there in the middle. I got my lap
times down where I wanted to be, but
we bumped into a few people under
braking, so it wasn’t the result that we
had hoped for. I felt like we learned a
lot though and were a top-10 car at
the end, so, for me, that’s still the
primary goal.”

MCA News
September 2013
Our fall show now appears in
the Event Calendar section of this
month’s issue of Mustang Times.
Here’s hoping all CVMC
members attending the Grand National
show Labor Day weekend comes home
with Gold or first place awards. I have
been informed there are over 500
Mustangs participating in this show.
Here are some of the results
from the July 20th MCA Board of
Directors meeting:
There are over 1,000 Mustangs
already registered for the 50th
Birthday Celebration.
Because of all the work involved in
hosting a National or Grand
National show the BOD has
approved awarding the President’s
Award to that club hosting the
National or Grand National show.
Page 9
The September issue is supposed
to have the bios for the 16 MCA
members running for the Board of
Directors election for the 12
vacancies. A ballot will be sent out
to all MCA members. Please vote
and mail your ballot by the
requested date.
MCA military members and
government employees stationed
in areas oversea (APO/FPO
addresses) will be provided access
to Mustang Times on line. This
should stop the long delays,
sometimes longer than a few
months, of all magazines.
The MCA club membership
incentive drive for each new member
has been reinstated. This means that
instead of the new member paying the
standard MCA dues of $50.00, that
new member will pay only $40.00 to
me. At our club’s board meeting the
$10.00 MCA was awarding us will be
passed on the each new MCA member.
I have a special form I have to send to
MCA with the new member’s
application. Included with your
membership is the Mustang Times
magazine which contains great articles
on various shows and activities,
judging issues, pictures, advice on
repairs for all year Mustangs, and new
or hard to get remanufactured parts.
This magazine is only available to MCA
members. If you want to join MCA,
please see me during the break:

News from the Car Club
Council
This month let’s discuss the
hitting of the “blend wall” which is
when the amount of ethanol required
by federal law will be so great that the
amount of gasoline produced will not
be able to blend at the current ten
percent ethanol level. In order to
really understand what this means we
have to review some recent history.
In 2007 the economy was hot,
gas prices were getting close to four
dollars a gallon, the U.S. was using a
record 9.1 million barrels of gasoline a
day and Congress wanted to take
action to prevent even more foreign
importation of oil. Congress came up
with the Energy Independence and
Security Act (EISA) of 2007 which
created the Renewable Fuel Standard
(RFS). This new law required the
volume of renewable fuel to be
blended into transportation fuel from a
beginning of 9 billion gallons in 2008
to 36 billion gallons by 2022. By
renewable fuel I mean ethanol in
gasoline. There are other renewable
fuels but ethanol is the real concern.
Each year the EPA is
responsible for developing and
implementing regulations to ensure
that transportation fuel sold in the
United States contains a minimum
volume of renewable fuel. And that
volume is going to increase each year
until the 36 billion gallons is reached
by 2022.
As we all know the country has
suffered a serious recession which
decreased the amount of gasoline
Page 10
used. Today the U.S. uses a half a
million barrels less than we used in
2007. Times have changed but the
EISA and RFS have not. Due to the
economy and the ever increasing fuel
economy of today’s vehicles (the
Obama administration recently upped
the Corporate Average Fuel Economy
standards for light trucks and cars) the
amount of gasoline used daily in the
U.S. is going down each year. The U.S.
Department of Energy expects the
amount of gasoline used to drop
through the year 2040. In fact the
department expects gasoline prices to
decrease by about ten cents a gallon
next year due to lower demand and
increased production.
The government is requiring
more renewable fuel (ethanol) to be
added to gasoline while at the same
time gasoline use is going down. This
is what is meant by hitting the blend
wall – the blending of the renewable
ethanol with gasoline is going to hit a
place where in order to meet the
renewable standard more ethanol will
have to be added to the gasoline
produced.
Could this be the reason the
EPA approved the sale of E 15 with
little testing? I don’t know but look at
this quote from the EPA. The EPA has
stated, “We believe that it will be
challenging for the market to consume
sufficient quantities of ethanol sold in
blends greater than E10 and to
produce sufficient volumes of non-
ethanol biofuels ... to reach the
mandated 18.15 billion gallons for
2014.” In other words we could hit the
blend wall in 2014 or even later this
year. Another problem is the
production of ethanol. What if there is
a drought? That would mean there
would not be enough corn to produce
the ethanol needed.
Congress could act and change
the law. The last Congress, the 112th,
was the least production since 1948
(the first year production was
measured). This Congress, the 113th,
is on track to pass even fewer pieces
of legislation. I wouldn’t count on
Congress fixing the renewable fuels
mandate. There are a couple of bills in
Congress to stop the production of E
15 but they would not fix the mandate
and passage by both houses is very
doubtful.
And of course there are those
who do not want more ethanol added
to gasoline. Lawsuits have been
brought by companies that build
gasoline engines. They fear they will
not be able to warranty an engine
running on E 15 and higher blends of
ethanol.
Antique car hobbyists have had
to survive the mandate of no-lead
gasoline, the lowering of octane plus
gasoline additives and E 10 gasoline.
Our old vehicles will not survive the
mandate of E 15 if that comes to be.
Congress needs to revisit the Energy
Independence and Security Act and
the Renewable Fuel Standard. It could
be geared to gasoline production
instead of picking a minimum volume
of ethanol/renewable fuel. It is just
another sign that our legislators are
not doing what we elected them to do.
