We are looking to an experienced Registered nurse to lead our Pre-assessment Unit service. You will be an expert clinical practitioner responsible for providing advanced clinical skills in our Pre-assessment unit which covers a wide range of surgical elective services.

The Advanced Nurse Practitioner is an autonomous practitioner who will, work closely with other Nurse Practitioner colleagues, Consultant Anaesthetists and Surgeons in managing waiting list patients attending for elective surgical and orthopaedic procedures. The Advanced Nurse Practitioner will carry out a comprehensive medical assessment and manage the ongoing medical needs of elective patients to facilitate planned admission for surgery.

The purpose of this role is to assess and then optimise the health of patient’s pre operatively, liaise and plan admission with the surgical elective admission lounge, wards and theatre and commence the discharge planning.

You will have experience in managing safe, effective treatment and care. This will involve working across professional and organisational boundaries in partnership with others including acute and primary care nursing and medical staff, allied health professionals and senior management teams. They will provide direct patient management in partnership with senior medical staff, have sound clinical knowledge and highly developed clinical decision-making skills in acute care. All applicants should possess the ability to prioritise fluctuating workloads, work across professional boundaries and be flexible in an extremely busy environment.

As Advanced Nurse Practitioner, you will be committed to continuous professional development and possess excellent communication and organisational skills. As an enthusiastic, dynamic and experienced Nurse you will provide strong clinical and practical leadership to the Nursing Team, whilst promoting partnership with the multi disciplinary team

Applicants must be in possession of a minimum of a Post Graduate Diploma in Advanced Practice. Possession of a Masters qualification or a willingness to work towards is desirable however, the ability to demonstrate Masters level thinking is essential.

This service currently works Monday to Friday however the post holder must be able to work outwith core working hours if required.

As a first level Registered General Nurse with current NMC registration and substantial post registration experience, you will provide a high quality, safe and effective clinical nursing service out-of-hours to the population of Fife and Kinross.

You will have experience of Primary Care, Accident & Emergency and/or nurse triaging, as well as evidence of the development and implementation of clinical guidelines, protocols and algorithms. Minor Illness qualification is essential to this role. Minor Injury qualification’s and Extended and Supplementary Nurse Prescribing registration are desirable.

The service has centres at Queen Margaret Hospital, Victoria Hospital, Glenrothes and St Andrews Community Hospital.

This is an exciting time for urgent care to support development of the nursing role in line with the Nursing Vision for 2030. We currently have vacancies for experienced, flexible nurses to support ongoing development of the urgent care practitioner role to include nurse consultation within the out of hours centre and a patient’s own home and clinical supervision within the dispatch centre to support the service in the provision of safe, patient centred and effective care.

You should have excellent communication skills, clinical assessment and critical decision making skills and be able to work autonomously and as part of a team.

We will support you with access to Personal Development Planning, a formal clinical supervision framework and relevant training and mentorship which will assure effective performance support.

The shifts available to this role are to be worked at evenings, weekends and public holidays to support safe, patient centred urgent care delivery.

The post involves coordinating the Evening Service Team throughout the West Division to allow effective delivery of Out of Hours Community Nursing care.

You will deliver a high standard of care to patients in their own homes who have complex needs and provide line management and leadership to develop and support the nursing workforce within the teams.

Therefore excellent leadership skills, communication, decision making and organisational skills are essential to support continual quality improvement as well as the safe daily delivery of this service.

A flexible approach to working hours is essential to allow for the development and co-ordination of this service. The post includes weekend and overnight working.

Previous extensive community nursing experience is essential along with the ability to travel independently throughout the area covered. A nurse prescribing qualification would be advantageous but not essential as we would support the professional development of the right candidate.

This post offers an excellent opportunity for a CR staff nurse to work within Fife’s Community Cardiac Specialist Nurse Team to enhance care and support new and existing services.

The CR Staff Nurse role supports the delivery of care to support recovery in the community post cardiac event including heart failure. You will support the Cardiac Specialist Nurses to provide short term intensive support to patients with heart disease so they can self manage their condition in the long term. The role includes the identification of risk factors and risk factor management and supporting the titration of medications. It involves working in partnership across primary and secondary care, including agencies and organisations outside the NHS to support people with heart disease through health behavior change

You should be educated to Higher, SVQ level 3 or have equivalent NHS experience. You should have a good psychology degree with graduate basis for registration with the British Psychological Society (BPS), experience of working with clients with ADHD and their families and the ability to travel during the working day. The post is based at Lynebank Hospital, Dunfermline, but the work will be carried out throughout Fife. You will be working under the supervision of a clinical psychologist, and will be providing assistance on specific clinical, research, evaluation, audit, literature searches, and other routine work of the department.

The post is part of the ADHD service, which is a multi-disciplinary team, including psychology, specialist nursing and medical staff, providing individualised care for children and young people with ADHD and their families. The service provides both assessment and interventions and provides consultation to other parts of the paediatric service. The team also provides ADHD specific parenting interventions for families who have a child or young person diagnosed with ADHD. School observations and cognitive assessments are often undertaken as part of the assessment process.

The department provides a comprehensive pathology service to Fife (population 360,000). The department has undergone comprehensive refurbishment and expansion in order to relocate Cytology and Histopathology onto a single site. Concomitantly a new mortuary has been constructed to support the relocation of all acute activity at the Victoria site. The Victoria hospital has undergone considerable expansion by a PFI project whose capital requirement is in excess of £170 m with the new hospital having opened in January 2012. The department has a large and varied workload with an annual throughput of 24,000 surgical specimens, 26,000 gynae cytology, 1,400 diagnostic cytology specimens and 200 autopsies.

You will join a team of 7 other NHS Consultants. The role includes reporting all aspects of histopathology with the scope to develop an area of special interest. Participation in the autopsy service and diagnostic/cervical cytology service would be desirable.

You should hold the FRCPath or equivalent qualification. You must be on the specialist register or be within 6 months of the anticipated award of a certificate of completion of training (CCT) or certificate of eligibility of specialist registration (CP) at the time of interview for the post.

The emphasis will lie with neuro-developmental disorders such as ADHD and ASD. The ADHD part of the post is part of a changed provision of medical input into a well established ADHD pathway. A significant number of young people supported in our service also have ASD with or without other comorbid difficulties, e.g. anxiety or ADHD. The medical supervision is provided by a consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist. You will be part of a team of doctors, nurses including nurse prescribers and psychologists. There is no on-call requirement but contributing to emergency response during normal working hours is expected.

The department (Fife CAMHS) includes a core group of experienced and well qualified clinicians from a number of disciplines, including, Psychiatry, Psychology, Occupational Therapy, Nursing, Dietetics and Child Psychotherapy. You will join an established team of four Consultant Psychiatrists, one core trainee and one Higher trainee from the Edinburgh training scheme.

The ADHD provision in Fife is a joint pathway provided by Community Paediatrics, Child Health and CAMHS with a distinction between a Tier 2, where patients are being seen by community paediatricians and Tier 3, which is provided by a specialist team consisting of paediatric nurses, clinical psychologists and psychiatric doctors. The Tier 3 service provides care for young people with complex and or co-morbid ADHD presentations. In addition, some young people with ADHD, who have complex mental health needs, are also seen within the generic Fife CAMH services.

This CAMHS post will be primarily based within the ADHD Tier 3 service (6 sessions) with 3 sessions focussing on wider neuro-developmental disorders and 1 SPA session. The main base will be in West Fife with clinics being delivered in Dunfermline and Kirkcaldy.

The establishment in 2005 of the Playfield Institute as a resource for skills development, research and the provision of information, has opened up new opportunities for the successful post holder to receive support for research and engage in a range of training events.The CAMH Service also provides essential input into specialist assessment clinics for children and young people thought to be on the Autistic Spectrum. You may contribute to this service.

You should have MRCPsych or equivalent paediatric qualification or having gained sufficient experince in working with young people with neurodevelopmental disorders. The opportunity has arisen for Specialty Doctors to join our enthusiastic, motivated and supportive Emergency Department team at Victoria Hospital, Kirkcaldy. The new unit opened in 2012 and has an annual attendance of 65000.

These well established posts support the provision of high quality patient care within the Emergency Department. It is aimed at clinicians who have completed at least four years postgraduate training at least two of which will be in a relevant specialty. Applications from clinicians considering the CESR route are encouraged

Specialty Doctors will work alongside Specialty trainees in Emergency Medicine from the South East Scotland training rotation. You will work at a middle grade level on a rota which provides 24 hour middle grade cover for the department under consultant supervision. The rota will include overnight and weekend work.

The post attracts 10 PAs of which 8 will be Direct Clinical Care and 2 will be for ongoing Continuing Professional Development. These PAs can be used flexibly for ongoing training and development. Development and maintenance of a portfolio is essential.

Specialty doctors will be involved in the initial assessment and management of patients attending the emergency department, and in supervising and supporting FY2s and GPSTs in patient management. This will involve work in all areas of the department. There will be opportunities to develop experience of observational medicine under consultant supervision and to take part in Observation ward rounds.The department includes an 8 bay resuscitation area, a 9 bay majors area, a 6 bay minors area and 2 paediatric consulting rooms. There is a dedicated Procedures room and a 6 bedded Emergency Medicine Observation Unit which admits primarily toxicology and head injury patients. There is access to electronic pathology and radiology ordering. Departmental guidelines, protocols and rotas are on the departmental intranet web pages. We perform well in key areas such as sepsis, stroke thrombolysis and compliance with the 4 hour target.

The Emergency Department has 24 hour senior doctor presence, (11 Consultant Emergency physicians 9.85 WTE) with current shop floor consultant presence daily from 0800 to 2300. We have 4 GPwSI who deliver regular sessions in evenings and at weekends. There are daily ENP sessions to help with the minors flow.

There is a co-located GP OOH service in the evenings and at weekends, allowing redirection of appropriate patients. A formal redirection policy is in operation.

There is a 24 hour ENP-led Minor Injuries Unit Located at Queen Margaret Hospital in Dunfermline which is clinically supported by the senior doctors in the Emergency Department.

We want to hear from people with the senior level experience required for this significant appointment. You do not need to be an expert in health and/or social care. We are looking for people with a wide range of skills and backgrounds.

It is a commitment of at least3 days per week for a daily rate of £164.85. 

Scottish Ministers want to appoint a new non-executive Chair to Healthcare Improvement Scotland (HIS).

HIS is a national improvement organisation that works with local communities, people who need support and the people who provide support to improve health and social care across Scotland. Strong relationships and partnership working with other organisations are central to helping us to deliver improvement.

You will play a central leadership role in guiding the strategies which support the health and social care system to design and provide high quality, sustainable and compassionate care for the people of Scotland.
