Mater Christi has reopened under Phase 2 of the Archdiocese of Chicago’s Phased
Reopening Plan!
Mater Christi has reopened for public Masses with a limit of 50 attendees and social distancing and safety guidelines set by the Archdiocese of Chicago. We are very excited to welcome our parishioners back to Mass! Also, Baptisms, Funerals, Weddings, and individual Confession have begun and have a limit of 50 attendees. Sunday Mass times during Phase 2 will follow our usual Mass schedule—5:00pm Saturdays, 8:00am (beginning on July 12th), 9:30am and 11:00am on Sundays. Daily Mass is also on the usual schedule —8:00am Monday through Saturdays with the same attendee limit and safety guidelines. Parishioners must register to attend Mass while we are under Phase 2 of the reopening plan. There will only be 50 attendees allowed at every Mass. In order to sign up for the specific Mass that you would like to attend, you may call the rectory office at (708) 442-5611 or visit the parish website to access the Sign Up Genius platform by simply clicking on the large yellow button on the home page of the website. Mass sign-ups will be available on the website on every Monday for the next weekend’s Masses. Per the Archdiocese of Chicago, IDPH, and the CDC, we must have information for contact tracing of all attendees in the case of a parishioner contracting COVID-19. Information needed will be name each person of the family attending Mass and a telephone number. If a parishioner does not register before the Mass, he/she may attend if there are any open spots available. However, he/she must provide the greeter with their name and telephone number. All information will be safely destroyed 14 days after each Mass if there are no confirmed COVID-19 cases of any of the attendees. When attending Mass, all attendees must enter through the elevator entrance. Upon entry, a greeter will be there to greet each attendee. Each attendee must provide their name and phone number upon entry and must wear a mask for the entire time they are in the church. All attendees should provide their own mask, however, there a limited number of masks available if an attendee forgets their mask. Attendees will also be required to sanitize upon entry of the church and must follow the social distancing guidelines for seating and aisle directions. All attendees must enter the sanctuary through the center aisle and leave from the side aisles. Directional arrows are posted on the floor to guide which way the flow of the aisle should be going. Pews are marked with crosses 6 feet apart to guide attendees where to sit. Attendees that live at the same residence may sit together, however, they must be 6 feet away from any other attendee. Attendees that come alone or do not live together must sit 6 feet apart from any other attendee. The restroom in the vestibule will be open on an “as-needed” basis. Please refrain from restroom use unless it is absolutely necessary. Although congregational singing is a beautiful way to praise God, according to the CDC, singing has proven to be a high risk activity that is known to spread COVID-19. Therefore, congregational singing is prohibited by the Archdiocese of Chicago until further notice. Please note that there is to be no physical contact for the sign of peace and Communion will only be distributed under one species (no chalice will be available). Communion will be distributed in the hand only. All attendees are to exit from the main vestibule doors (unless the use of the elevator is needed—in that case attendees that require use of the elevator may exit the elevator entrance). PLEASE NOTE—IF YOU BECOME ILL AND DIAGNOSED WITH COVID-19 WITHIN TWO WEEKS OF ATTENDING MASS AT MATER CHRISTI, PLEASE CONTACT FATHER MATT AT THE RECTORY. YOUR PRIVACY WILL BE ASSURED.
We thank all of our parishioners for their patience and cooperation as we have reopened our church in accordance with the Archdiocese guidelines for safety. If you would like more information about the Archdiocese of Chicago’s reopening plans, please visit the Archdiocese of Chicago website at https://www.archchicago.org/coronavirus/reopening or reach out to Father Matthew at the rectory at (708) 442-5611 or via email at [email protected].
Bryant’s Building Blog
Hello all! I hope everyone is staying healthy!
I just wanted to reach out to everyone to keep
you informed what’s going on in the facilities
department. Our church has reopened under
the Archdiocese’s Phase 2 safety and capacity
guidelines. Many thanks to our cleaning team
who makes sure that the church is clean and
sanitized after every mass and event at the
church. All pews, railings, handles and high
touch surfaces are wiped down after every use.
Your health is our first priority.
We are happy to see our parishioners back in
church every weekend!
The roof of the church started to leak last
month. From the area of where the water is
coming in, it appears to be leaking from the
steeple area. I am working with the roofing
company who had worked on the previous
leaks back in 2017 to see what our options
will be. I am hoping this will be a simple fix.
I will keep you informed on new projects we
will be doing this year. Currently, we are
working on getting the budget approved so we
can move forward. These times have been very
trying for everyone. I would like to thank
everyone for their generous support to our
parish over the past few months! Because of
your generosity we can continue to improve
our parish so it is safe and beautiful for all.
Stay healthy and see you at Mass!
