Amy Stock Memorial Trailer
On July 19, 2015, Amy Stock, was killed bya drunk driver. She was an innocent victimdriving home from an evening of babysit-ting. The man who killed her was traveling65mph down an Albany city street when heran a stop sign and hit Amy’s car. His bloodalcohol level of .27, more than three timesthe legal limit. The drunk driver wascharged and convicted of aggravated vehic-ular homicide and will be spending 8-24years in state prison.
Amy obtained a BS in Biomedical Comput-ing from RIT and worked for Baxter Health-care Corp in Chicago, IL for a number ofyears. However, that was not her true call-ing. Amy went on to earn a MA in Environ-mental Studies from The Evergreen StateCollege in Olympia, WA. At the time of herdeath, she was working on her PhD in Edu-cation and Curriculum Development at SU-NY Albany.
Amy was a professor of EnvironmentalStudies at SUNY Empire State Collegeand a grant writer for Capital Roots inTroy, NY as well as a freelance writer. Shemade numerous contributions to the com-munities in which she lived. While in Olym-pia, WA, Amy helped to build theOlympian Zen Center, Order of Ryokanand passionately contributed to the LongDance Women’s Retreat in theOlympia/Seattle area. In 2008, she co-founded Sustainable Saratoga along withthe current mayor of Saratoga Springs, NYJoanne Yepsen. Amy was also proud tobe a foster parent in Albany County. Amy’sfriends and colleagues have described heras “A Powerhouse for Good.”
Amy’s book, “River Stories HealingThrough Nature and Rivers” was pub-lished by her family posthumously as itwas on her “to do” list for 2015. This bookis a testament to the beauty of her spiritand a guide to her life’s journey.

Amy’s sister, Eileen Anania, an Otsego County resi-dent, worked with the Otsego County Sheriff andSTOP DWI to bring the demolished car to the countywhere she lives. In an effort to preserve the car, tellAmy’s story and educate the public on the dangers ofdrinking and driving the STOP DWI Amy Stock Me-morial was created
