ALL WORK SHOULD BE DONE INDEPENDENTLY AND BE WRITTEN BY HAND WITHOUT THE AID OF ON-LINE TRANSLATORS. OF COURSE, A REAL ENGLISH-FRENCH, FRENCH-ENGLISH DICTIONARY IS an excellent resource, AS IS WORDREFERENCE.COM. ALL WORK IS DUE THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL.

1. REVIEW REGULAR AND IRREGULAR VERBS IN THE PRESENT, PASSE COMPOSE AND IMPERFECT TENSES AND IN THE PRESENT SUBJUNCTIVE MODE. (see link below for big list of regular verbs)(see link for Verborama verbs. "Review" is understood to mean practice writing out these verbs in all the above tenses, make a flashcard for each representative verb Ex. 1 regular -er, 1 regular -ir, etc. and making model sentences.

2. FILL OUT THE VERB REVIEW WORKSHEET. (FICHE DE REVISION). WE ARE VERY LIKELY GOING TO HAVE A BIG REVIEW TEST IN SEPTEMBER.

3. Read and study carefully the packet on a passage from L'Enfant Noir by Camara Laye. CAREFULLY FOLLOW THE STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS FOR THIS SUMMER READING. AS USUAL, DO THIS BY HAND. MAKE SURE TO STUDY THE PASSE SIMPLE TENSE AND TO ANSWER THE THOUGHT QUESTIONS THOUGHTFULLY! DO NOT SIMPLY LIFT YOUR ANSWERS. RATHER, SKILLFULLY INCORPORATE THE ORIGINAL QUESTION INTO YOUR ANSWER. NEVER SIMPLY BEGIN WITH"PARCE QUE"!! Ex. Nous savons que la mère... parce que....As you are reading, look up any words you don't know that you can't figure out from the context. Note them in the vocabulary chart for L'Enfant Noir (below).

4. Read the article "Dans les Coulisses de Cannes" and follow all the instructions on the worksheet that goes with it. (SEE LINKS BELOW.) THIS IS TO BE SUBMITTED THE 1ST DAY OF SCHOOL. As you are reading, look up any words you don't know and can't figure them out from the contex in addition to the 50 vocabulary words that are on the "Cannes" vocabulary list. Note them in the extra vocabulary chart for this article. Please note: If you find my vocab. grid for the 50 words too restrictive, you may create your own graphic organizer. (But do fill it out by hand.)
