Sergeant Ben Mixon has been with the Marietta Police Department just over ten years. He attended Auburn University and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice.

Sergeant Mixon has worked all three uniform patrol shifts as an officer and the morning watch and day watch as a sergeant. He is a graduate of the Dale Carnegie Course: Effective Communications & Human Relations/Skills for Success and has received multiple certifications in various aspects of the law enforcement profession.

He was promoted to the rank of sergeant three years ago, and transferred to the Community Response Unit (CRU) just over a year ago. As the CRU sergeant he is responsible for the Citizens’ Police Academy, the Pastors’

He is a certified instructor with specialization certifications in Health and Wellness, PIT, Taser and Firearms. Sergeant Mixon is married and has a five year old son and a three year old daughter.

President Tim Bailey presided over the meeting.

Wes Smith greeted members and guests.

Past President Ted Hayes provided the invocation and led the club in the Pledge of Allegiance and Four Way Test.

Wes Smith recognized guests and visiting Rotarians while conducting the GRSP raffle.

Gwendolyn Skinner selected the winning raffle ticket.

Past President Phil Medlin won a gift card and coffee in the GRSP raffle.

Past President Roger Rozen gave sunshine for his recent birthday, and his grandson’s christening.

Keith Funderburk spoke about Alzheimer’s and reminded everyone to donate to the CART buckets.

Amy Erskine gave sunshine for her son John who was accepted into the Corps of Cadets at West Point.
