The Fishing Game from www.adrianbruce.com This game is one of my students all time favourites. They have to fish for sight words using a home made fishing rod with a magnet attached to the end. To play the game just download the file you require and print out all the brightly coloured fish and the sight word cards onto thin cardboard. I tend to laminate the fish to increase their durability. Next spend a quiet evening in front of the TV indulging in a little therapy while you cut out the game. Once the cutting is complete attach the words to the back of the fish with 2 paper clips. Then make up a couple of fishing rods with twigs from the playground, add a little string to the end of the rod and attach a magnet to the end of each to create a fishing rod. After all that have some FUN! How to play: In my experience it is best to let the kids invent their own rules for this game. They are very good at it if you point out that the main purpose of the activity is to learn the 'Bossy E Rule' and secondly to do it in a fun way. This game is from http://www.adrianbruce.com Make sure you check back from time to time for new games or to email me about where in the world you are using this resource. Remember to use the blank cards from my site to make the game suit your students’ needs and then email me the cards you make up and I'll add them to the site to help out others. [email protected]

Dear Educators, If you are in a school in the First World with 2 or more students that enjoyed these games & learned from them… Grab an envelope, have the kids make me a small thank you card out of thin card. Write me a short note of thanks then go to the school secretary & ask for some petty cash for learning resources, place it in the card and send it to the creator of these games. Adrian Bruce, 2 Eskimo Ct, Wollongbar, NSW, Australia 2477 This will show your appreciation for the resources and for making learning just a little more fun. NB It will also help keep this site free to those less fortunate. Checks and money orders can also be made out to me ☺
