Getting started
- 10 founding members: DX-listeners, radio-amateurs,CB-operators, Free Radio -operators, scanner listeners- 10 months for planning and preparations: collectingmoney, applying license, building (studio, transmitter,station, etc.)

Achievements2000• First transmission 1.7.2000 on 25 meter band2001• First transmission 2.6.2001 on 48 meter band• “Station of the year” award from Finnish DX association ( Suomen DX-liitto )
2002 EDXC – European DX Council special broadcast2003
Improvements in studio• Power on 25m band increased from 50 to 100 Watt2004• New antenna with higher gain taken in the use on 25m.• First test transmission 30.10.2004 on medium waves2005• Official start on medium waves – 1602kHz2006• Something will happen….
Broadcasting
- SWR broadcasts every 1st Saturday of the month and some special occasions like X-mas- Frequencies on 25 mb: 11690 and 11720 kHz- Frequencies on 48 mb: 5980, 5990 and 6170 kHz-Frequency on medium waves: 1602 kHz
Behind the station- The stations is operated by the association"Vaihtoehtoisen radiotoiminnan tukiyhdistys ry" (The support association for alternative broadcasting)- 15 members and 5-10 "supporting" members

48 meter transmitter- 100 watts- Crystal controlled- Mos-Fet PA
All transmitters are self-made and officially approved for broadcasting use

48 meter band-Wideband cage dipole type antenna, frequency range 5735 - 6340 kHz- Height 9 meter from ground

The money comes from:
- The members' own pockets (50%)- SWR-products (T-shirts, etc.)- Commercials- IRC's from the listeners ;-)- City of Virrat- Sponsors
And the money goes to:
- Music copyright fees (35%)- License fees (35%)- Transmitters, antennas and related equipment - Studio equipment- Maintenance of the studio building
