All purchased items must be collected by Friday 12pm. After this period they will be taken to our storage facility and stor-age rates apply. Small items: £2 per day, Furniture items: £10 per day.

Introduction…

We begin this Fine Art & Selected Antiques Sale on a buoyant note. A few weeks

ago High Road Auctions achieved a new house record after selling two Indian

miniature paintings for £23,000. We are therefore eager to jump into our next

selected sale .

The sale features a private collection of fine Oriental works of art. Highlights

include a 19th century Japanese silver wire cloisonné multi floral vase in the style

of Hayashi Kodenji (Lot 80, est £300 – 500), an early 17th/18th century grey

and black jade bowl (Lot 84, est £800 – 1,000) and a Han Period green lead

glazed pottery granary (Lot 130, £400 – 600).

The sale also includes:

a varied selection of fine art featuring Peter de Wint, Theophilus Clark,

Alan Davie and James Rannie Swinton

a collection of furniture from a private collection in Cheyne Walk including

a mid 19th century walnut tall boy with mirrored front (est £1,500 -2,000)

and a set of eight Chippendale style George III mahogany dining chairs (est

£1,000 – 2,000)

fine art from private member’s club, Home House, Portman Square

a fine collection of silver

a bronze bust by British sculptor Gilbert Bayes

a beautiful collection of jewellery including emerald and pearl examples

Sir Tatton Sykes, the nineteenth century church restorer, who was no mean judge of architectural beauty, once exclaimed while contemplating the west front of the Church, “Lovely St Mary’s, unequalled in England, and almost without rival on the continent of Europe!” Founded in 1120, the Church of St Mary in Beverley is said to owe its origin to Thurstan, Archbishop of York, 1114—1143, who had been Provost of Beverley Minister
