Abstract

This project entitled “Feasibility of Crabgrass (Digitaria Ischaemum) as Ethanol” aims to

find out if the starch extracted from the crabgrass can be used in the production of

ethanol.

Background of the Study

This proposal is about extracting Ethanol out of Crabgrass. We have researched that ethanol can be taken from plants containing starch.

Since every plant produces starch, we thought that maybe, Crabgrass would serve as a

feasible source of ethanol.

General Objectives of the Study

To determine whether Crabgrass is a viable source of Ethanol.

Specific Objectives

To compare the amount of ethanol per unit mass of Crabgrass to other well-known sources of ethanol such as corn plants.

Significance of the Problem

This study would help make ethanol production less controversial since now it would allow for

the production of ethanol without greatly affecting overall food production.

Scopes and Limitations

The study is only limited to the use of the Crabgrass plant as a source of ethanol, it will not go in depth into other possible uses for

Crabgrass.
