The  2013  Graduation  ceremony  was  so  enjoyable.    Thank  you  to  everyone  for  helping  to  make  it  a  success.    Our  2013  graduates  are  a  very  special  group  of  students  whose  departure  will  be  felt  by  everyone  here  at  Fanwood.    We  wish  them  the  best  of  luck  in  their  future  plans.    Be  sure  to  view  a  few  of  the  pictures  from  the  ceremony  on  page  3.

THE LOREM IPSUMS SUMMER 2012 New  York  School  for  the  Deaf                     July  8,  2013

Summer  Updates  and  Reminders:

Each  summer,  staff  members  ask  about  the  summer  dress  code.  For  those  of  you  who  work  in  air-‐conditioned  offices  and  classrooms,  we  would  ask  that  you  dress  in  what  we  have  all  come  to  know  as  “business  casual”.

For  those  of  you  who  work  outside  with  students,  knee  length  shorts  will  be  just  fine.    Please  refrain  from  wearing  jeans,  jean  shorts,  tank  and  halter-‐tops.    As  always,  for  your  safety,  flip-‐flops  are  not  permitted.

Even  during  the  summer  we  have  visitors  from  school  districts,  prospective  families,  and  elected  officials  to  name  a  few.    Additionally,  it  is  most  important  that  we  continue  to  model  appropriate  dress  for  our  students,  even  in  hot  weather.

Remember  to  stay  well  hydrated  and  use  sunscreen.    You  are  important  to  us  and  we  do  not  want  the  heat  to  affect  you  adversely.    Thank  you.

Please  Note:    Starting  this  summer,  we  will  implement  a  new  process  for  any  requests  to  leave  cars  on  campus  overnight.

If  for  some  reason  you  must  leave  your  car  on  campus  overnight,  we  ask  that  you  please  fill  out  a  request  form  (pick

up  in  Dr.  Dickinson’s  office).    You  will  be  asked  to  provide  us  with  information  such  as:  make,  model  and  color  of  car,  license  plate

number  and  emergency  contact  information.                                                                   You  may  also  be  asked  to  park  in  a  specific  location.

If  approved,  this  process  will  help  us  to  inform  the  appropriate  people.    An  unidentified  car  parked  on  a  school  campus  is  a  safety  concern,  and  therefore,  it  will  be  towed.    Since  this  is  a  school,  we  must  always  err  on  the  side  of  caution.      Thank  you  and  please  feel  welcome  to  contact  Dr.  Dickinson’s  office  with  any  questions.
