    The Fairchild TimesHello Again!

I see you have been eating, for why else would you bestaring at this publication inthis choice venue at thisinstant? What I really hopethough is that you have been treating yourself toplenty of healthy foods andgetting a decent amount ofsleep at night.

The weather is changing, classes are picking up paceand you are trying to balance thechallenging trio of academics, social life, and personal well-being.

The good news is that you are on a collegecampus and while you are very unique, your current set of challenges is not and

    help is readily availablejust ask!

Some things are a little easier to addressthan others though. Take for example thevery dominant and very prominent issue ofthe use and abuse of alcohol oncollege campuses.

Did you know that 159,000 oftoday's first-year college students

will drop out of school next yearfor alcohol- or other drug-relatedreasons? And the average student

spends about $900 onalcohol each year? Do youwant to know how muchcash the average studentdrops on his or her books?About $450. My point iswhichever way you look atit, its really not worth it!

That said, have you takenthe time out to check outthe Fairchild Hall

Facebook group? If not,you are missing out!Chances are one of your

neighbors had free breakfast (with bagelsfrom The Bagelry) or participated in awatermelon eating contest thanks to thespontaneous programming announcementson Facebook! So what are you waiting for?Go to http://goo.gl/ma3EP or scan the QRcode with your fancy phone.

Thats all I have for this issuesintroduction, I hope to see you around thehall, please stop by for a chat when youhave some down time, or if you need to

vent and you cant seem tolocate your best friend!

WASHINGTONA new study releasedMonday by the U.S. Labor Department foundthat women, who currently earn 23 cents lesson the dollar when doing the same work asmen, should in fact be earning only 20 centsless than their male counterparts. "This is2011, and it is frankly ridiculous that womenearn only 77 percent of what men make, whenthey should clearly be making 80 percent of

    what men make," department spokesman

Frank Neiderberg said. "There's simply nodoubt that, in this day and age, womencontribute a full four-fifths of what men do tothe economy. No doubt whatsoever." Acoalition of feminist groups said the report "isa small step in the right direction, but doesn'tgo nearly far enough," causing many observersto point out that nothing is ever good enoughfor those people.

    Emergency Contact Information:

Upon checking into the hall, you were asked to provide us with the name of an emergency con-tact. We use this contact in the event of a medical issue mostly. Occasionally, a student maybe gone for several days and sometimes it is worried that the student is missing. IF you wouldlike a different person designated as your emergency contact in this type of instance, pleasecome down to the hall director and provide that persons name and phone number so that wemay place it on the emergency card. If you are comfortable with the name of the person you

have already given, do nothing. Thank you.
