Godlike entities shaped the creation of this breath taking island which was raised out of the Pacific Ocean by two fire spitting volcanoes. This other-worldly smell of fire, ashes and melting rocks is echoed by the combination of bitter orange with the explosiveness of cinnamon, which is complemented by the earthiness of brown sugar. As Hawaiian legends tell, the summit of the younger volcano Haleakala was home to the grandmother of the demigod Maui who helped him capture the sun in order to lengthen the day for the Hawaiian islanders. This sheer force is echoed in the candle’s shattered dark glass uncloaking the volcanically red wax beneath it.

This is the other end of the world. Adelie Land’s adverse climate and snow-covered, vast desert lands make it sound hostile. However, a white flag is flying on the Antarctic con-tinent – a land of peace and science. The candle’s white glass echoes the immaculate white desert. The scent is a symphony of white musks while raspberry, rose and patchouli give the note soft and chypréed feminine accents. A small tribu-te to the caring Adèle, the wife of Terre Adélie’s discoverer.

The mysterious Bolivia… Part of the Ancient Incas Empire, it is believed to be a chili pepper motherland. This hot fruit inspired Incas myths and folktales. Revered as a deity, Ayar-Uchu, or «Brother Chili Pepper», was one of the four brothers emerged at the inception of the Incas world. The Perfumer is traveling through the endless wild landscapes of Bolivia in pursuit of the sweet pungency of chili, exuding tenderly smoky cedar wood notes surrounded by an intriguingly gentle accord of mineral paprika.

A shrub that produces small white flowers, osmanthus gives off a delicate scent tinged with floral, fruity and oriental notes full of poetic refinement. This fragrant beauty grows in Asia, particularly on the slopes of the Himalayas, a region full of natural treasures and rich with countless legends and mysteries. Used in fine perfumery, osmanthus releases fruity hints of apricot and peach and evokes the warmth of exotic faraway lands. Here, osmanthus heart notes are joined by notes of tea and patchouli. The base reveals a woody accord combining sandal-wood and labdanum, enveloped in musk scents.

Saffron is said to come from the Middle-East and is rightly nicknamed „Red Gold“: it is in-deed the world’s most expensive spice. Saffron is widely used in the Persian cuisine, but its va-rious facets unfold in other fields: saffron’s coloring pro-perties were already known to prehistoric artists and the first references to its unique scent are written in the Bible… Saffron’s dry smell evokes hay; in this composition, leathery and woody notes dress saffron up in a warm, dark costume. A mysterious symphony to take you on the road to the Orient.

The peony was called „ healing plant“ by the Ancient Greeks because of a famous legend: Peon, physician of the gods on the Olympus mount, succeeded in saving from certain death Hades, god of the underworld, thanks to a remedy containing peony. In addition to its medici-nal properties, peony’s beauty and delicate scent have been well known since Antiquity. In our interpretation, peony co-mes with timeless rosy notes spiced up by pink berries and patchouli. An ethereal scent echoing the “rosy-fingered dawn” praised in Homer’s Odyssey.

Yuzu’s invigorating scent evo-kes summer but it is definitely a winter fruit able to resist cold… and lift one’s spirits. Yuzu is therefore the main ingredient of the «  Yuzu-yu  », a hot bath very much liked by Japanese people on winter solstice because it is said to bring wealth and health. Besides its cosmetic and antiseptic properties, this bath diffuses yuzu’s delicious zesty notes, here melted with bergamot and grapefruit, and sweetened by verbena, almond and musks.

Rose. The ultimate flower. Born with Aphrodite, goddess of love, rose is worshipped and cultivated in many countries. The Turkish province of Anatolia, which «  makes the sun rise  », houses the city of roses. Indeed, the rose has multiple facets: rustic and sophisticated, sweet and prickly, fresh and opulent… Rose is never exactly the same. Nor is it completely different. Here, the rose scent first evokes a bud  : soft and green. Then its petals unfold and reveal a note of white peony and spices. Finally, the rose reaches its full blossom in a diaphanous note of musks and Cashmere wood.

The Russian Tsars’ dashing sol-diers, also known as hussars, had a habit to get ready for battle peculiar to their group: they polished their boots, belts and saddles with fragrant birch resin. As they moved from place to place, they spread therefore a characteristic smell, many times fantasized about... This smell has also turned into a source of ins-piration for perfumers. In this scent, leather notes are sur-rounded by saffron flower, black suede and precious woods for a flashback in a mythical past one likes to reinvent.

The Amalfi Coast is lined with arid cliffs, the blue sea and a tree: the fig tree, heavy with soft and juicy fruits. The sweet, slightly milky and green scent of fig intertwines with that of the tree leaves and surroun-ding vegetation. The citrus flower top notes swirl over a heart of fresh fig and rockrose before melting into dry fig and laurel tree notes. The Mediter-ranean spirit in a scent…

China, a land of spices and con-trasting landscapes… Yunnan and its treasures are the perfect example. A mysterious root with real and implied powers, ginger feeds the imagi-nation, spices up recipes and adds a refined yet piquant touch to perfumery. For Lalique, ginger’s fresh, zesty scent full of oriental opulence embraces a smooth and sweet vanilla base, lighting a path to the temple of love.

North Africa, the land of citrus fruits, is home to the bitter orange tree. Its fragile flower yields neroli essence whose scent is, paradoxically, both powerful and delicate. Mandarin orange and bitter orange sparkle in the top notes against a heart of neroli and sambac jasmine, accentuating the opulence of white flowers over a base of patchouli, amber and vanilla. A sunny fragrance infused with luxury, calm and voluptuousness.

A ring of snowy peaks, winter sports, luxury chalets… This is what Aspen is associated with, as well as its forests of fir trees. However, Aspen is named after the aspen, an extraordi-nary tree which resists fire better than other species. But in Aspen, who could resist the appeal of a crackling chimney fire while snow is falling outside? The exhalations of cardamom, eucalyptus, cypress and cedar-wood carry one’s nose in the sweet torpor of a winter’s evening.

A former Portuguese colony and a hotspot of psychedelic enlightenment, Goa has a thou- sand faces, a thousand stories and a thousand traditions. Goa is India. Lalique honours both by perfuming homes with the warm, sacred scent of sandalwood. A sweet, milky and lingering fragrance. In this scent, the woody accord flirts with patchouli and gets spicy with cardamom and cumin. For an evening around a blazing campfire.

Goa a mille visages, mille histoires, mille traditions.

Acapulco, the “bay of thick reeds,” is an ideal destination that has long been home to the sweetest of orchids: vanilla. Discovered by the conquistado-res, the famous black pod plays a starring role in perfumery and cuisine with its delicate, de-licious aroma. Lalique’s scent pairs vanilla with a sandalwood heart and a musky amber base for a delectable, enveloping and mouth-watering effect.

With its legendary temples and pristine beaches, Bali is a land of enchantment. The vetiver that grows there is a dry, woody root whose smell recalls the forest and soil. Lalique’s scent diffuses a subtle telluric fragrance that begins by explo-ring the fresh facet of vetiver before delving into its dry, smoky side with pine needle, cedar and frankincense notes. Step inside this woody accord.
