WHEN WERE CASSETTES FIRST MADE?

~The cassette tape was patented in 1964 by the Philips Company.

WHY WERE THEY MADE?~They were made to hold music, video, etc.

WHAT MAKES UP THE CASSETTE?

~ Cassettes are made up off two miniature spools which a magnetically coated plastic tape is passed and wound. Thus, playing the audio.

WHO INVENTED THE VHS?~The Victor Company of Japan

invented the VHS.

WHY WAS THE VHS MADE?~ The VHS was a popular delivery format for long-play content, VHS was also used to deliver short-play content, such as music videos, in-store videos and tutorials.

WHAT MAKES UP THE VHS?~The VHS is a 12.7 mm wide magnetic tape wound between

two spools, making it to be slowly passed over the various playback and recording heads of the video cassette recorder.

WHEN WAS THE FIRST DVD MADE?

~ The DVD was invented and produced in 1995 by Panasonic, Sony, Toshiba, and Philips.

WHAT MAKES UP A DVD?~ The DVD is made of a spiral groove read or written starting at the

center. The form of the groove tells us what movie is playing. This is called the Media Identification Data, or MID.

WHY WAS THE DVD INVENTED?

~ The DVD was invented for easier usage of recording and showing media. It was invented to hold more information than the VHS.

IS THERE A FUTURE FOR THESE MEDIA RECORDERS?

Personally, I don’t think there is a future for the cassette and VHS. You don’t

really see much now-a-days, except for films in science, history, and other subjects

that require a lot of information. The DVD, however, has changed a lot since it first

was invented. For example, we now have Blu-Ray disks that are supposedly better

than the first DVDs. I really haven’t seen a movie on Blu-Ray but I’m guessing it’s the

exact same. If it’s not, oh well. This is just my opinion. And everyone is entitled to

their own. I don’t think anything is going to change within the next 10 years.
