The first day has started with lively session of Prof. Lorenzo Breschi from Italy who spoke about the latest improvements of dental bonding system. Further it was followed by Dr. Morten Worsøe from Denmark and his lecture on DSD and wax UP. Dr. Roberto Turrini from Italy did also a great job on Prep vs. no-prep Veneers . The morning session was finished with lecture on Symplexity of Dentistry by Prof. Angelo Putignano from Italy. Second session of the day started with Dr. Jean Alexander van Lierop from SA on his lecture “Simply Predictable Direct Posterior Composites: Art and Science”, followed by Nasser Shademan, CDT who joined us all the way from Malaysia who gave a beautiful lecture on Beautiful & Natural Smiles. Prof. Brain Millar that came all the way from UK, Kings Collage, spoke about Aesthetics MI Way and the day was finished by Dr. Serhat Köken from Turkey who kept the audience until the last minute of his presentation on Anterior Direct Composites; Layering Tips & Tricks.

The second day has started with second lecture of Dr. Morten Worsøe from Denmark on long lasting smiles which was followed by “Fast & Good in Direct Restoration: Decisional Criteria” lecture given by Dr. Walter Devoto from Italy. Also implantologists didn’t miss their opportunity on listening to the experts coming from AAID. The whole afternoon session was dedicated to the 5th AAAID Global Conference with the lectures of Prof. Avijit Banerjee from UK, Dr. Frank R. LaMar Jr., Dr. Frank LaMar, Sr. from USA, Dr. Natalie Wong from Canada and Dr. Shankar Iyer from USA, all presented very interesting and informative cases.

PANEL DISCUSSIONS

Panel discussions at the conference were a useful way to trigger anexchange of viewpoints among experts with the audience. Thepanelists discussed the issue or topic from the questions they havereceived from the engaged audience. All conference registrants werewelcome to attend the panel discussions, which were after eachsession. Pannel discussions offered a great opportunity for theaudience to discuss issues related to aesthetic dentistry to furtherincrease their understanding of the subject.

This year’s agenda offered a wide variety of topics and it is clear fromthe participant’s feedback that the sessions they attended weregreatly appreciated. All sessions were very well attended. This wasnot only due to the quality of input from thethe richness andpertinence of the speakers and panelists but also due to discussions.

POSTER PRESENTATION

Year after year delegates from across the region travel to DFCIC in Dubai to present their latest scientific cases, studies and novelties through poster presentations. Poster presentations allow the author to meet and get introduced informally with interested viewers, facilitating greater exchange of ideas and networking opportunities. This is an important introductory for investigators at important scientific meetings such as the DFCIC. This year was no different with a total of 3 winners with each receiving appreciations not only from the organizers but as well as sponsored awards from Philips Sonicare. The winners were categorized by an experienced jury led by Dr. Jean Alexander van Lierop – a founding member of The South African Academy of Aesthetic Dentistry (SAAAD) with Dr. Nabeel Al Nahhas – Faculty of Gulf Medial University Ajman and Dr. Mohamed Meligy from Sharjah University.

HANDS-ON COURSES

The dental hands-on dental continuing education courses are limited in enrollment to afford the maximum opportunity to practice the skills in a hands-on format during the Dubai Dental Week (DDW) between 01-07 November 2016. During this time CAPP utilizes state of the art learning techniques to insure that dental professionals go beyond just understanding principles to actually being able to implement the concepts and skills in their practices. The delegates developed their skills with guidance from the experts from the industry in these interactive dental hands-on courses. These courses combined lectures and practical sessions.

Each dental course has been accredited by certain amount of continuing education hours from the ADAC.E.R.P, Dubai Health Authority (DHA) and Health Authority – Abu Dhabi (HAAD).

During the 16 hands-on courses, 377 dental professionals gave a satisfaction rate

of 95% regarding the needs for development and continual learning

DENTAL HYGIENIST SEMINAR (DHS) is the continuation and growth of CAPP’s Dental Hygienist Sessions during the last 8 years. Dental Hygienist Seminar was an accomplishment for the entire dental hygienist profession. Over 270 dental hygienists attended the event.

On 05 November 2016, professionals from around the world with an interest in oral health care met at Jumeirah Beach Hotel in Dubai. Dental Hygienist Seminar was organized by CAPP & Colgate Oral Care Academy. The theme of this year’s seminar was “Dental Hygiene – Challenges & Opportunities for the Dental Professional” comprising of seven non-biased scientific lectures focusing on various aspects. The event was conducted with the International Federation of Dental Hygienists (IFDH).

The DHS has started with the session of Dr Nadim Mokbel who spoke about Sense and Hypersensitivity, after this lecture the participants should be able to diagnose properly a recession, elucidate its etiology and choose the proper treatment to resolve the hypersensitivity. Dr. George Sanoop gave lecture on Supportive Periodontal Treatment which was followed by Robyn Watson who spoke twice during the day on “The Role of the Dental Hygienist in Periodontal Therapy”. Dr. Nijad Mina started the afternoon session with Clinical Aspects of Maintaining Good Gingival Health Around Implants, Dr. Lara SawayaJammoul continued on Infection Control in Dental Settings and Dr. Maroun Dagher finished the day with asking if Periodontology and Periodontal Treatment still make sense.
