A Stunning Contemporary Film Festival
Final thoughts on the Montreal Festival of New Cinema
By Frederic Eger
Special to The Epoch TimesNov 08, 2006
For ten luxurious days in October, aficionados
of avant-garde film bathed in the electrifying
atmosphere of the 35th Montreal Festival of
New Cinema. More than 62,000 spectators, a
38% increase over 2005, enjoyed video offerings
at 344 screening rooms and events.
Festival organizers have shown how to
successfully respond to the public's
expectations and have established the festival
as Montreal's cinematographic event par
excellence from now on. As the oldest
international film event in Canada, next year's
festival is planned for October 17-27, 2007.
