EVERY OTHER THURSDAY

JUNE - AUGUST

Crowds fl ock for food, fun at “Midtown Eats” by WHAM | Thursday, June 1st 2017

Rochester, N.Y. – Thursday was a great evening to be out. And because it was the fi rst Thursday of the month, local vendors hoped consumers were thinking of downtown Rochester as a destination.

Outside Tower280, “Midtown Eats” kicked off.

Vendor tents popped up along the old Midtown site. There were plenty of food, wine and beer vendors - plus bistro tables, encouraging people to sit and stay a while.

There was also live entertainment during dinner hours and free parking in the Midtown garage for the events.

The idea is to get more people downtown to see all of the changes at the site – but also to make it a more vibrant place where people would want to hang out.

The fi rst run for Midtown Eats was at lunchtime Thursday.

Sticky Lips BBQ is one of the vendors at the event. They said, right out of the gate, there were pretty large crowds.

“It’s just a wonderful afternoon,” said June Thousand of Sticky Lips BBQ. “Sold a lot of food, a lot of good people.”

“It was nice seeing the community come together,” she added.

Organizers estimated about 1,500 people attended lunch at the event. Dinner is open through 9 p.m. Thursday.

ABOUTHistoryTower280’s rich history begins in 1962, as the fi rst indoor mall in the United States.

After Midtown Plaza closed in 2008, the majority of the Midtown Block was demolished, with hopes that the area would begin a new chapter for a vibrant, modern, well-utilized Center City. Midtown Tower was left standing—a skeleton of steel and brick. Buckingham Properties and Morgan Management acquired the Tower from the City of Rochester and began redevelopment in 2014. Plans included a complete rehabilitation of the remaining structure, and a two-story expansion at the base of the Tower to maximize street presence to attract retailers.

After two years of construction, Tower280 offi cially opened its doors in February 2016. The 17-story mixed-use tower launched the revitalization of Downtown Rochester. Over 95% of the 181 residential units are leased. These apartments feature contemporary fi nishes and beautiful city views. Over 80,000 square feet of Class A offi ce space is 100% leased to on the second and third fl oors. Combined, these fi rms bring over 300 employees to Tower280. An Italian restaurant opened in December 2016 on the ground fl oor.

NeighborhoodDowntown Rochester is experiencing a renaissance, with Tower280 at the heart of its revitalization.

Tower280 transforms the historic site of the nation’s fi rst indoor shopping mall into a mixed-use downtown destination. Come visit us, and fi nd yourself at the center of the city experience, surrounded by dining, shopping, and festivals.

Each year, thousands of events take place in Downtown Rochester. Live theater, concerts, festivals, museums, and sports venues are all within walking distance of Tower280. When you’re hungry, it’s easy to satisfy your

meal cravings with everything from food trucks to fi ne dining. Prefer to stay in? Enjoy the convenience of a grocery store on the ground fl oor of the Tower.

Tower280 is immediately surrounded by over 18,000 workers, with a daytime population of 155,000 within a fi ve minute drive. With easily accessible underground parking, The Tower offers direct access for residents, employees, and visitors.

Development TeamTower280 is owned and operated by a joint venture of Buckingham Properties and Morgan Management.
