The Environment

2
The Environment The Earth is a system that houses millions of organisms that are dependent on each other, contributing to the environmental balance. In recent decades, our planet has revealed clear signs of imbalance result of human intervention and excessive consumption of natural resources. Some examples of these environmental problems are pollution (atmospheric), acid rain, the ozone layer depletion, global warming, drought, and deforestation, among others. Global warming, caused especially by air pollution and the emission to the atmosphere of large amounts of gases that enhance the greenhouse effect, is a major problem once it can have devastating consequences for humanity, since the melting of ice caps to the increase in the average level of the sea, the loss of biodiversity by the destruction of ecosystems, the aggravation of natural disasters (heat waves, cold waves, floods and droughts), an increased risk of fires and loss of agricultural production. Furthermore, the excessive use of non-renewable natural resources such as water, is also a problem. It is important to discover alternative lifestyles and use clean renewable energy sources as solar energy, wind energy, wave and tidal energy, natural gas and biofuel. With regard to measures to protect the environment, it is possible to use some steps as forcing factories to have filters in the chimneys and waste treatment plants, recycling, using sewage systems, saving water and electricity (through simple measures in our daily life, it sure is possible) and the use of public transports. It is up to each of us to protect our "home" common, Earth.
