Congratulations to the players selected in the CCDRL Under 23’s and Ladies League Tag Representative sides to play North Coast at Macksville next Saturday. Today’s round sees some exciting clashes which bring together a replay of the 2017 Grand Final between Terrigal and Wyong as well as the match up of the high flying Ourimbah Magpies against the so far undefeated Entrance Tigers. It was good to see the much improved Toukley Hawks record their first win of the season last week against the Erina Eagles. Best of luck to all team this weekend. Regards,

Fred HartupPresident CCDRL

COACH’S PROFILE Jamy ForbesSharks

Roos News Berkeley Vale’s Super Saturday of rugby league was a well organised and executed festival of football. Wyong were too strong in the CCDRL matches but faltered against Blacktown Workers in the ISP. Congratulations to the Panthers Committee on the innovation. Ted Doyle Oval and the facilities were presented in fantastic condition, the volunteers were more than accommodating, and the day was an unreserved success as a fundraiser and a means of lifting the profile of the Club and the game in the area.

Ladies League Tag – sponsored by Dovmac Mining & ConstructionWyong 24 – Berkeley Vale 8The Wyong Ladies met some stern resistance from the Pantheresses in the early stages and took an unconvincing 10-4 lead into the break. Sarah Dimech scored a nice solo try in the 29th minute, regathering her own kick from close range. Carissa Harrison crossed in the 33rd minute from a set play after Teearna Langbridge created space from acting half, and when Sarah touched down for her second try in the 40th minute, the Roos led 24-4 and looked comfortable. Berkeley Vale scored late to narrow the final scoreline. The five tries to two victory was a good indication of the difference between the teams. Tylah Vallance was voted Players’ Player and Teearna Langbridge received the Coach’s Award.Under 19’s – sponsored by Fill & Carry Fruit Market at Kanwal VillageWyong 64 – Berkeley Vale 0The Panthers were clearly outgunned by the strong Wyong squad, but displayed plenty of character throughout this match. The Roos led 26-0 at halftime, scoring in each of their first two possession sets, and dominating the forward exchanges. The visitors crossed for a further seven tries in the second period to round out the impressive scoreline. The visitors showed greater patience in this game than the two previous rounds and are developing an understanding of the way Coach Farag wants to play and their individual roles within his game plan. Although a work in progress, the boys are heading in the right direction. Players’ Player was Zac Ryan and Jake O’Meley received the No Coward Award.Open Age – sponsored by Citrus Clean Central CoastWyong 56 – Gosford Kariong 6The Roos had crossed four times before Travis Mantell scored for the Storm, and by the time the referee signalled halftime, the green and gold led 30-6. Wyong halves Michael Smith and Pan Kaaka well managed the team’s tempo and direction. Prop Gary Field ran like a three quarter, and the introduction of Ned Clancy late in the half re-energised the visitors. The Roos piled on the points in the second half. Ben Morsillo was busy. Jeremy Tunks beautifully timed a courage line run to cross for his second. Whilst there is much room for improvement, this was a better effort in terms of composure and team work. Ben Morsillo was Players’ Player and Gary Field the No Coward.Reserve Grade – sponsored by Optus LakehavenWyong 52 – Berkeley Vale 12The Panthers scored first, diving over from acting half in the 9th minute. The Roos had showed scant respect for the ball, opting to go wide and pass out the back in the early stages before earning that right. The visitors were punching holes in the Berkeley Vale defence but were failing to add those critical finishing touches. However, by the 12th minute these issues had been largely corrected, and the team began to roll over the Panthers. Bryce Burgun scored the first of his five tries in the 12th minute and the second in the 31st minute. Wyong led 28-6 at the end of the first period, then scored a further five tries in the second. Shaq Mitchell’s angled solo effort from the Panthers’ 40m line was remarkable. The Reggies are strong from sideline to sideline, possess a good kicking game and enough flair to be a genuine title threat. Big tests loom against Terrigal and The Entrance.“We started a bit slow first 10 mins. Berkeley Vale scored first and then we kicked in and played good footy. All 17 did their job and another good defensive effort.”Les HannahPlayers’ Player went to Bryce Burgun and the No Coward to Brady Barwick.1st Grade – sponsored by Evolution SecurityWyong 32 – 10Tries to Brad Keighran and Jake Trindall helped the Roos to a 12-0 lead after 12 minutes, but when Trent Pye scored shortly afterwards for the home team, it appeared the Pan-thers would provide a contest. However, that appearance was short lived as the visitors scored an additional two tries before halftime and led 22-4 at the break. Wyatt Shaw was first to a Brad Keighran kick into the ingoal to open Wyong’s account in the second period. John Carroll returned serve for the Panthers, but a further try to Jarrod Kessler extended the visitors’ lead and completed the scoring in this match. The second half was a real snooze compared with the first, and the Roos will have to maintain their intensity for the full 80 mins if they hope to defeat the better credentialed teams. Jake Lewis grabbed the Players’ Player Award and Brad Keighran was this week’s No Coward.

The Sharks travelled to Bateau Bay on the weekend and it wasn’t the Tiger who came away with there tails between their legs as the Tigers won four out of the five grades with the Sharks second grade toughing it out in winning the Sharks only match on the day. We now know what the benchmark is and the improvement needed to be force in this years competitions. The T-W League Tag team were defeated 12 - 6 in a cliffhanger, which could have gone either way and looked headed for a draw until the last play of the game. With the Tigers having the wind in the first half they dominated possession and field posi-tion as they kept the Sharks pinned down in their half. Taking the lead in the 10th minute it took some miraculous defence and a bit of luck to keep the Tigers too 6 - 0 at the break. The second half was the reverse of the first with the Sharks dominat-ing field position and a great try to Brittany Starr from a kick, chase and dive which was followed up by a Starr penalty goal had the score locked until up couple of miscalculations in the final minutes gave the Tigers the opportunity for victory. Best for the Sharks was Rachel Curnow who tagged and pushed herself to the limit, the two points went to Claudia Symington who got through plenty of work around the ruck while the one point was shared between Brittany Starr, who also received the Players Player award and Matead Barber who made some crucial tags and made plenty of crucial meters. A great game between two very competitive sides. The Sharks Nineteens were pretty disappointing in a performance against a side who turned up ready to play. We know the main areas that we need to improve and we’ll be working hard at training to better ourselves in the coming weeks. The three points and Players Player went to sixteen year old Jack Stringer whose commit-ment and toughness is always a significant feature of his play. The two points went to another sixteen year old, Clint Norris who tried his heart all day and continually turned up for his mates. The one point went to Aubrey Faull who has his best game for his new club thus far and who was rewarded with a good try. Everyone of us is accountable for their performance and win, lose or draw, we will be working hard to show we are capable of much more. The T-W Sharks Open grade put up a good effort against The Entrance Tigers who will be one of gun sides this year. The Sharks went set for set early in the match scoring the first try and putting plenty of pressure on the Tigers defence. The Tigers then got away to a good lead and looked like running up big score, however the Sharks dug in and stuck to their guns, and won the second half. Good signs for the season ahead. Well done Boys. The three points and Players Player went to Rhys Bryant who made plenty of big charges and hits, the two points went to Michael Creamer who plays well each week, with the one point shared between the halves Mitch Hall and Cameron Smith. Bring On Wyong next week. The Sharks Reserve grade side dug deep to defeat the Tigers 12 - 4 in a hard fought defensive match. The Sharks showed good discipline early and controlled the ball to cross for two tries through Harry King and Jed Ambose and with a Josh Lyon conversion the Sharks led 10 - 0 at the break. Both sides turned over too much possession in the second half and it took an outstanding defensive effort from the Sharks to limit the Tigers to an unconverted try while Lyon added another penalty.Best for the Sharks and Players Player was Josh Starr who made plenty of hits in defence and ran strongly, the two points went to Jed Ambrose who schemed around the rucks and was tireless in defence while the one point was shared between Blake Inwood and Harry King who both shut down many of the Tigers attacking raids. The Sharks First grade side came up against a classy Tigers side and were out-pointed in a tough and physical contest, 34 - 14. Coach Forbes was pleased with the teams effort but is concerned about the growing injury toll. Best for the Sharks was Aaiden Wright who was in the thick of everything despite carrying injuries, Todd Lewis received the two points on the back of his organisation, great kicking game and strong defence which he shared with Justin Sopp who had another standout performance. The one point was shared between Lachlan Bell who also received the Players Player and Aja Roberts who both tried their hardest to stem the Tigers attack. The Entrance showed they will be very hard to beat for this years premier-ship with some handy players still to return from injury.

From President Desk. I just want to take this opportunity to thank all the tireless workers, committee supporters, players, and sponsors for the huge effort, both on and off the footy field over the last few weeks. We have had a couple of big events the last couple of weekends at home at Berkaand the success of these days can be attributed to a great team effortfrom all involved. Our teams continue to do us proud on the field and we are 100% behindthem, keep strong boys and I’m sure the results will follow. Looking forward to our next game against Erina at home.... thanks again everyone and see you at the footy.....Kind Regards, Ken Smith JP, President.Reports1st Grade – Proudly sponsored by Toowoon Bay Carpets & ShuttersWhat a massive day at the beautifully presented Berkeley Vale Oval on Sat-urday for our club, hosting the Roosters and Manly under 20s as well as their reserve grade teams in conjunction with our usual teams playing, made for a huge day and night.Well done to Boof and his committee and volunteers as well as Boothy(groundskeeper Willy) and his helpers for showcasing our club and ground in what was an entertaining day of rugby league on the coast.Unfortunately the night didn’t end as we would have liked with the Panthers going down against a very enthusiastic Wyong outfit. In a beaten side there was a number of standout performances headed by Jack ‘Sunshine’ Weir picking up the 3 points, big Tyson Roberts was award-ed 2 points as well as picking up players player and the little live wire Jay Jones featuring in the points again getting 1....well done guys. The only lowlight of the day was the ground announcer for our local fixtures with his constant ramblings and badgering of the crowd in ...a tone...that...at times...threatened...to put...people to sleep, my lord what a punish!!!Seriously, well done again to everyone involved with the day and stick with us everyone the tide will turn. Cheers...Johno2nd Grade – Proudly sponsored by Berkeley Vale Cellars. Not the result we would have liked however no one can doubt the ‘Reg-gies’ resolve. Down on numbers and many playing busted, the boys never stopped trying and the tide will turn. Matt Bailey, as usual never stopped trying and gets the 3 points. Who will ever forget his 70-metre run to step through Wyong’s entire side including their bench and crash over the line with 5 defenders wrapped around his ‘Thor’ like body. Waylon Van Beveren was good … really good and received the 2 points. Mitch Evrard put his body on the line the entire game and gets 1 point. Players Player was Matt Bailey. Thanks for the effort boys: the club is proud of you all and the teams never say die attitude. Thanks to Paul ‘Benson’ Barry and Ric ‘Hedges’ Tubridy for continuing to so zealously guard the wheelie bin on the hill. Thanks to the Managing director of the ‘Long Front Shirt company’ Dave ‘Cupcake’ Lyons for his continued support and sobriety. It was inspiring to see so many club supporters, current and former players and their families and club sponsors rally around the Berka Flag and turn up to lend a hand on Super Saturday. Great club … great people.Ladies League TagOutstanding effort from the girls against last year’s semi-finalists, with no bench and down to 10 players for the majority of the game the girls showed plenty of grit. Welcome to Drew and Te who gave us the numbers to play on the day. We are the first team to put points on the board against Wyong with great try’s to Chloe and Jess, Our middle was impressive with Sharni, Drew, Breah and Chloe all having great games, The firecracker and Tara put in tireless efforts out wide supported by Caitlin and Jess, with Aimy showing some good skills, Te showed what a big night she had and we lost Tahlia to injury. Players Player went to Drew who also got the points, along with, Chloe, Sharni, Breah, Tara and Ash. With more time we will improve and if the commitment at training continues the results will too.

Berkeley Vale Rugby League & Sports Club would like to thank our Sponsors, for their continued generous support of our great club.

Eagles News Welcome to all Erina supporters to Berkeley Vale today. With our first home game in two weeks go and grab some Eagles merchandise from Club reception. Golden Eagles Reunion is now on 17 June vs Ourimbah at Erina Oval. Congratulations to the Erina players who have made the Central Coast representa-tive team.First grade – last weekend we travelled to Toukley. Much improvement on the week before but we failed to complete our sets and with silly errors and a big penalty count couldn’t get the win. Mark Byrne played strong the whole game getting 3 points with Jesse Bogle defending very well deservedly 2 points while the two edge players were solid – 1 point to Ben Steven and Shane McFadden.Reserve grade – another tough road trip up to Toukley. We started well with an early try to make the score 4 nil. This soon after could have been 10 nil however Fenno thought he was still playing rugby and tried to sneak a pass of the ground which was picked up unfortunately from the ref. At half time the scores were locked up 10 all. In the second half we looked a lot better with the ball in our hand with Muzz steering the ship around, Reggie straightening up the play and Jack out the back. After a tough game we ended up running out victors 32-16. 3 points and players player to Brayden Cain, 2 points Jack Frasca and 1 point Daniel Fenton.Open grade – it was 3 from 3 for Jase May’s Open Grade side against a typically tough Toukley Hawks side on Sunday at Toukley. Players player Brad Deegan had a busy game and scoring 2 tries while forwards “The Pest“ Field and Nathan “I’ll never go on a bucks weekend in Melbourne again“ Besgrove had strong games. Lock Kurt McGowan had a busy match getting the 3 points while half Blake Laybutt wound back the clock with his chip over the top, regather and score under the posts! His tally was 20 points including 6 goals from 6 attempts. Also pleasing for the Coach was the impact off the bench for the Eagles, “The Bat“ offloading like Artie Beetson, Redhead’s speed out of dummy half and the energy from Daz, Seany and Pauly Katia was important in the 36-12 victory.Under 19s – whilst we walked away with a win 54-12 the score was not a true reflection of the game. Our first half we were definitely an unpolished side, making fundamental errors which we will need to remove from our games going forward. The second half was a different story as the side began to play the football we expect and know is the normal playing game. In the second half we eliminated the errors and started to execute our plays and went on to score 36 unanswered points to run out convincing winners. Toby’s work out of dummy half got our sets off to a good start to which we played off the back of. Belly was a handful to the opposition on the edge crossing for one and setting up a few other tries. Louie was outstanding out the back taking a hat trick of tries. Once again, the performance was sound and it is hard to score 50 plus points in consecutive weeks however there is still a lot of improvement to come within this side. Scorers – Louie 3 tries; Blake 2 tries; and one to Toby, Cookie, Belly, Jesse, Boothy and Brayden kicked 7 goals. Players player was Jesse Hood; Points – 3 – Louie, 2 – Belly, 1 – Jesse. Ladies league tag – a good game of league tag from the Erina girls against a much improved Toukley side running out winners 34-6. We are working out some new combinations in the halves so we still have a lot of improvement to come. Best for Erina were Stacey Markham, Amy Regal and Indie Elms and for a gallant Toukley Kaelah McNamara, Darby Clark and Georgia Corbett were the best.

Vale: Darrell Eastlake Renowned sports commentator Darrell Eastlake, best known for Wide World of Sports, and a proud central coast resident has died aged 75. He died following a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease and emphysema at a nursing home on the Central Coast. Eastlake had been calling rugby league for NBN-3 in Newcastle, and radio 2GO locally before he began working for the Nine Network in 1982. He worked in TV and radio for more than 40 years, perhaps best known for his enthusiastic coverage of the State of Origin during the 1980s and early ’90s, as well as Formula 1, ironman, weightlifting and superbikes. He was pulled from the commentary team at the 1990 Auckland Commonwealth Games for his over-excited performances. Ken Sutcliffe worked alongside Eastlake and remembers a man who was full of enthusiasm.“Darrell used to get to a fever pitch from very early on in the game,” Sutcliffe told The Daily Telegraph in 2013.“He’d get so excited that David Hill, our executive producer, stood behind Darrell in the broadcast box at Lang Park with a rolled up Courier Mail.“He’d belt him over the head if he started getting too carried away but Darrell just kept on calling in his own unique style. You heard his voice and you knew you were watching State of Origin.”Eastlake started his working life as a baggage handler at Qantas, then ran a surf shop before entering the media.Tom Malone head of Nine sports said in a statement, “Darrell’s impact on Australian sport cannot be overstated. He was one of the leading voices and faces of Wide World of Sports. He revolutionised sports like Weightlifting, Formula 1, and Superbikes with his trademark excitement and “HUUGE” commentary. Better than most, he understood that sport is enter-tainment, and for the average person, a momentary escape from their everyday life“His inimitable commentary was central to the early success of State of Origin, especially his love of King Wally, Lang Park, and the underdog Queenslanders. He loved athletes and he loved sport and shared that passion and love with all of us through the television.

Darrell Eastlake: A big belly laugh from Australia’s heartland By Peter FitzSimonsI know it. You know it. In the wake of Darrell Eastlake passing away on Thursday, I have to reprise my favourite “shaggy dog” story about him, which I first heard in the early 1990s when I worked with him for Channel Nine’s Wide World of Sports.See, one warm Saturday morning in April, Darrell was working away in Scott Street, Willoughby, when the phone rang.Larger than life: Eastlake was unmistakable on the mike and never faked his enthusiasm. He picked it up, only to hear that famous growl: “How’s Easter going?”It was Kerry Packer himself, calling all the way from London!“Terrific, Mr Packer, terrific,” Big Dazza replied quickly, trying to gather himself. “The sun’s shining, the surf’s up, had a great barbie with the kids yesterday, played a bit of frisbee.Dazza got only as far as this, when he was interrupted by a mighty roar, “Not that f---ing Easter, you f---ing idiot! My Easter, my horse Easter, running in the Randwick carnival! Who am I f---ing talking to?”Darrell took a deep breath, looked left, looked right. It simply had to be done.He didn’t want to do it, but it had to be done. He replied“Kenny Sutcliffe, Mr Packer, goodbye.” (Click.)Darrell was, for the record, a great bloke, with absolutely no difference between his public and private persona – big, boom-ing, garrulous, guffawing . He looked like Australia, sounded like Australia, and when he called a match, his level of excite-ment was so genuine, and so infectious, I reckon his success was that we in the audience felt obliged to lift up just to try and get to him.Darrell was a big belly laugh from the heartland of the Australian psyche.Just how did he burst on the Nine scene, though, all those years ago? I asked David Hill, who was the boss of Channel Nine sport 40 years ago, before becoming the long-time president of Fox Sports International, and now executive producing the Formula One.“It was my Aunty Jean who told me about him.” Hill responded. “I’m from Newcastle, and I was telling her I was looking for announcers for the 1982 Commonwealth Games. She loved Darrell’s league calls. So I checked him out and hired him ...”Little did Aunty Jean know what her recommendation was about to create. He loved his Harley and bodysurfing HUUGE waves, and a convivial one or two at the Terrigal Pub, and you always knew when he was in the room.Vale, Darrell. You were one of the beauts.

Our thoughts are with his wife Julie and his family and friends.

Bears News We came up against a Woy Woy side who won their opening two games and we knew we were in for a tough afternoon.Still with a handful of players on the sidelines due to injuries we were lucky to call upon a few of the Ourimbah boys who filled in well. The game was a hard fought contest with Woy Woy coming away with a 20-6 win. Whilst our attack early in the season is a work in progress due to some new personnel the boys commitment in defence cannot be questioned. We picked up some more injuries during the game which will again test our playing depth but I’m sure we will continue to work through it and come out the other side.3 Points went to Durbo who backed up another good game putting in a fine display. 2 Points went to Dale Wilson who relished the switch to 5/8 and scored a nice try. 1 Point and Players Player went to Brendon Hall who continues to impress each week. Coaches award went to Dave Thom who got through a mountain of work and never stopped trying all day.To all the parents, partners and supporters we invite you all back to the Gosford Sailing Club for the after match function.

St Edwards Open Grade are proudly Sponsored by Terrigal Constructions,

Storm News Gosford ran into stiff opposition last Saturday and by clock off, a grotesquely disfigured scoreboard did signal a hefty loss. Too many simple mistakes com-ing out of our own half invited the ruthless Roos to pepper our line and they were slick enough to take full advantage.Travis Mantell was adjudged the Storm’s best, having speared over for the sides lone try; he also went perilously close on at least two other oc-casions. Powerful right centre Brennan Lacey continued his impressive start to the season and picked up the two points, while chief playmaker Brendan Eather was handed the bronze, despite being hindered by a dodgy groin. Veteran back-rower Craig Starr was another solid contribu-tor with plenty of meaningful defence early on and a spectacular bust down the left edge that had the Storm faithful on their feet in the shadows of halftime.Graham Foster’s team will need to regroup quickly from the fifty point shortfall against Wyong, as today we cop a visit from the premiers Erina, who one can only imagine will prove to be a tough nut to crack. Wyong were two from six coming into the Round 7 fixture against Blacktown Workers. The Sea Eagles had comfortably accounted for the Roos in a pre-season trial match and were well capable of racking up points if given the opportu-nity. On the other hand, the green and gold had struggled to score points and had posed little threat with the ball in recent matches. There was hope the change of scenery at Berkeley Vale may help Wyong rediscover their mojo.Wyong looked to have found some form in the early stages with the big men, Lindsay Collins, Eloni Vunakece and Poa-sa Faamausili rolling through the ruck. Mitch Cornish kicked crossfield in the 5th minute. Blacktown was penalised for tackling Josh Mantellato mid-air, and in the ensuing set, Mitch Williams from acting half found Collins running hard and straight between the uprights. Mantellato converted to put the Roos ahead 6-0. After Reece Robinson intercepted a pass in the 10th minute to race 60m to score, the locals were looking good at 12-0. The visitors did not panic, and by halftime had reduced the deficit to 12-10 courtesy of tries to Jackson Hastings and Joey Lussick. All the momentumwas with the Sea Eagles who ran in five more tries after halftime without reply and built a 32-12 lead until Matt Ikuvalu crossed for a consolation try in the 78th minute. The final 32-16 scoreline flattered the Roos, as both Hastings and Lussick had an off day with the boot.Wyong now face a very tough road to make the top four, and next take on Mounties at Morry Breen Field on Saturday 28 April. Kick off is at 3.00pm.

LADIES LEAGUE TAG NEWSLast weekend had all LLT games with closer scorings than the first few rounds. Kincumber and Northern Lakes had a 8 all draw with two tries a piece with Ranni Jackson playing a great game for the Colts. The Hawks defend-ed very well against the Eagles with Erina winning 34-6. Toukley are a much improved team this year and will continue to get better each week. Woy Woy’s Jasmine Wolfe scored two tries helping the Roosters to a 26-8 win over Ourimbah while Ella McCabe scored her first try for the Magpies! Berkeley Vale played very well considering they had no reserves but Wyong were too strong winning 24-4. In the much awaited grand final replay between The Entrance and Terrigal The Entrance ran out winners 12-6. The Tigers defended well all game and the curtain raiser was a very exciting game before first grade. Kristen Kessler and Holly Buchanan were outstanding all game for the Tigers and the sole point scorer for the Sharks Brittany Starr had a very strong game. Round 2 of this game will be sure to be just as exciting to watch these two very strong contenders of the competition. Congratulations to all players who have been selected for the representative side.

Tigers News First Grade Report: The Central Coast Cleaning Contractors First Grade Tigers game against the defending premiers Terrigal was always going to be a tough encounter and that’s the way it played out. We started well controlling the field position for the first quarter of the game and eventually crossed for two tries to take an 8 - nil lead. However’ a poor five minute period allowed the visitors to take the lead 10 - 8 as they scored two quick tries. We crossed once more before half time with a well-executed dum-my half sneak over to lead 14 - 10 at the break. The impressive thing about the day was that in the second half we came out and went on with the job running another 4 tries. There was some really good physicality in the game and both sides played with gusto making it a great game to be a part of. Reserve Grade Report: The GTL Rapid Clean Reserve Grade Tigers put in a disappointing display against Terrigal. Two wins in the opening rounds may have glossed over the fact that the team has been in scratchy form. An error riddled performance in the first half gifted our opponents plenty of ball and good field position. Unfortunately, an inability to control possession continued in the second half with no fewer than 17 handling errors. The team will need to improve in this area in coming weeks. Congratulations to the other grades on good wins and Congratulations to the Tigers selected in the Central Coast Rep Teams. Open Age Report:The MJM Kitchens & Stone Open Age Tigers got off to a better start this week. Getting away to a 24-6 half time lead. Giving away a lot of posses-sion, through errors and penalties, Terrigal got back into the game, but to our boys credit we dug deep and finished the game well, 32-16. One point went to Blacky, Two points went to Aaron and Three points went to players player Junior (Malu) with 3 try’s. Under 19’s Report:The Coca Cola Amatil Under 19 Tigers were happy to be back at EDSACC where we opened the day’s events. Once again, the Tigers were short on troops when facing the high flying Terrigal Sharks, but the boys showed they were up for a fight in a great display. After conceding an early try, the boys re-ally fought back hard with tries to Andrew (who needs training) Petersen and tireless Kyle McCudden with a conversion by Jackson (dead eye) Greaves for a lead of 10–4 at the break. The second half showed the Tigers at their best with a scintillating display of attacking football coupled with tough defence. A trio of tries to the ebullient Matt Hedges in addition to a try to our leader Jake Slee together with a conversion by Jackson Greaves completed our scoring while Terrigal scored a fortunate try against the run of play to for the result showing a win to the young Tigers 28–8. Best players for the Tiger cubs were the superb Andrew Petersen, the man who laid the platform early, Zane Grif-fiths, hardworking Darren Grech and the try scoring machine Matt Hedges, with Andrew Petersen getting the Players’ Player Award. League Tag Report:The Pallisters Ladies League Tag Tigers continued their strong start to season 2018 with a 12-6 win over Terrigal in a grand final replay. The Tigers went into the game expecting a tough and close contest and that is exactly what was delivered. A first half try to Sian George saw the Tigers take a 6-0 lead into the break. A second half try to Britt Starr followed by a penalty goal saw the game looking like ending in a deserved draw. However some individual bril-liance from Steph Sharp saw a try with seconds remaining, handing the Tigers a 12-6 win. Strong performances across the park made it tough to select the points this week with special mention to Kristen Kessler, Jocelyn Kelleher, Holly Buchanan and Tian Stephens who all played strongly. Magpies News BJ Howes Metaland Lisarow & Charmhaven First Grade Team Report – The Ourimbah Magpies 1st grade side travelled away for the first time this season , facing the highly regarded Woy Woy side . The Roosters controlled possession and put a quick 12 points together, before the Maggies started to settle into their game plan . Without Mildren , Foley and Beale , the team quickly realised simple & composed footy was required. With Overton and Takarua scor-ing , the Roosters took a slim lead into halftime. After the break , our Men settled into the grind , keeping Woy Woy scoreless and earning a tough, but comfortable win. Everyone played there roles well with Takarua , Et-rich , Bayley and Vaotuua providing spark when it was required . Good to see this group bonding stronglytogether , keen to test themselves against one of the benchmark sides today in The Entrance Tigers @ Edsacc oval . Your generos-ity is greatly appreciated and valued.Ladies Report:In agame the girls should have won the Warriorettes drew with the Kin-cumber Colts. The girls controlled the game well but just couldn’t get over the line. The Warriorettes best on the day Georgia, Sam and Ellie. Keep up the great effort girls.3rd Grade ReportNo game last week.2nd Grade ReportThe Warriors were very competitive in this match versus the Colts. However, poor ball control, ill discipline and failing to find touch from penalties meant the Warriors had very little possession in the match. To the boys credit their defence kept them in the match.Tthe match finished with the warriors going down by 20 points to 10. Improved completion rates and respect for the football will see this team achieve better results. Players Players went to the hard working Brucey and Moey. Badge and Ollie were also strong during the match.

Toukley Hawks Coming into our third week, we were due for a win. We began the game with a slow start, Erina scoring just a few minutes into the game. The boys regrouped and we hit back with 2 tries before halftime. our defence got better and better as the game went on, there was a lot of dropped ball from both sides, our on line defence was great and could not be faulted managing to keep Erina scoreless for the remainder of the game result-ing in our first win for the season 18 to 6. Matt Veacock got the 3 points 2 to Jakob Giles and the 1 point went to Connor O’ Bierne, Jakob Giles also was voted player’s player, hopefully his good form will get him an opportunity in the ISP Cup with Wyong. The Hawks Reserve Grade side put in a good team effort considering all the injuries and interruptions during the week. they were in the hunt for long periods of the game but in the end Erina were too strong winning 32 to 14. Brandon Ross receiving the 3 points for the match while the handy hooker Jack McCudden took the 2 points and the 1 point went to Matty O Brien. Brandon was also voted players player by his team mates. What a great effort by open age, we worked hard at training to get where we wanted to be although the scoreline does not reflect the game at all. Credit to Erina they kept on coming, well done to my boys, we roll around again next week. 3 points and players’s player went to Brad “Bungie” Spencer, 2 points to Fletcher Celand and the 1 point went to Shannon Cassidy. The Poppi Concreting Under 19’s played a similar game to last week. We started off well then poor execution & defence resulted in Erina running away convincing winners. The boys scored a converted try through Ryan Donegan and were trailing 18-12. A drop ball from the resuming kick off lead to Erina scoring immediately to go ahead 24-12. Erina then scored back to back converted tries to blow their lead to 36-12 within 5 minutes. Once again we were a bit soft through the middle and a little slow to stop some of the Eagles raids. We still have a lot to work on and I’m sure the boys are in for the ride. Try scorers were Zac Hayward & Ryan Donegan with Zac converting both tries. Best for the Hawks were Taj Kennedy, Kiran Page & Ryan Donegan. Taj Kennedy received the Players Player vote. Thanks again to our sponsors; Poppi Concreting, Redmen Fire Protection & Bruce The Plumber for your ongoing support. Well done boys…………let’s do it all again next week.In the ladies there was too much dropped ball in the first half which put us under a lot of pressure. We turned it around in the second half and managed to stick with Erina until a couple of errors gifted Erina with 2 soft tries. stand out players were Hannah Fitz, Darby Clark, Kaelah Mc-Namara, Georgia and G. The 3 points went to Hannah, 2 to Darby and the 1 point went to Kaelah. Hannah also collected the teams vote for players player.

We would also like to thank and acknowledge some more sponsors this week

Bruce The Plumber, Rod Thomas, Compass Sheds, Madhouse Beef Jerkey, Rapid Clean,

Colts News Welcome to Woy Woy players and supporters to Mackillop in what should be a close encounter in all grades. Reserve Grade Report Another game we’re we finished with no bench again through injuries. It was a scrappy game we’re we didn’t really see the best out of our boys and struggled to put away a gutsy Northern Lakes side. We had quiet a few changes again & it just took all game for our boys to click but at the end of the day we got there and banked the 2 points which is what it’s all about.(3) points was Dane Vawdon, best defensive game he has put in for a while. He whacked them all game and was a stand out in defence, will only get better as he gets fitter.(2) points went to Anthony Barbaro for a great game, plenty of energy and really showed some strong qualities, Barbs never stopped all game.(1) point was shared by El Rozario & Johnny Dale, very solid across the park for the whole game with a lot more involvement this game.We meet Woy Woy this week back at home again so hoping for a big crowd to cheer us on.A huge thank you to See Thru Cleaning & the Sydney Markets Limited for coming on board as our sponsors, makes life that little bit easier when great people get behind you, many thanks. Ladies League Tag ReportTough day in the heat for our girls today against north lakesMuch improved effort shown by all players this week Leah, Ebony H, Lou and Cassie having strong games with good runs.
