1175 N. East St., Anaheim, CA 92805 Letter from the Executive Director One of Eli Home’s recent graduates of the 6th grade, had the privilege of addressing the crowd at her gradua- tion ceremony. Greetings ladies and gentleman, wel- come to our sixth grade promotion. My name is Jennifer. As said by Sir Francis Bacon, “Knowledge is power.” This means our knowledge is worth a lot. Our knowledge is what we use to do everything, everyday. We use knowledge on tests and our knowledge helps us earn our grades on our report cards. Because we have such wonderful teachers in the sixth grade, we now have the knowledge to move onto seventh grade. Even though we will experience difficulties along the way, we will use our powerful knowledge to get through them. For this, we will use our knowledge forever. As you should know, this day is to honor us. This moment is un- forgettable. When we grow older, we will look back and say, “Wow! I’ve gone this far in life and I feel great!” I hope that everyone will have a successful seventh grade year and that everyone will continue succeeding in life. Thank you.” CONGRATULATIONS Jennifer, we are so proud of your accomplishments. SMILES OF JOY FROM CHRISTMAS 2009 The Christmas Season is the busiest time of the year for the Eli Home. Between the Christmas Ball and The Children’s Christmas Party, Eli staff is bursting with energy the entire month. Thanks to all the volunteers and donors, this year’s Chil-dren’s Party was another great success. Hosting over 300 children and mothers at the Anaheim Hilton with games, food and gifts is always the highlight of the season!

SAVE THE DATE

Imagine transforming a distressed neighborhood into a vibrant and thriv-ing community through the power of collaborative partnerships. This is what the East Street Community Renewal Initiative (ESCRI) plans to achieve. By combining community development activities and diversified services, ESCRI implements a holistic approach to improve the quality of life of the residents of the East St. neighborhood. ESCRI is a place-based initiative to positively impact a 3-mile radius area of north Ana-heim. ESCRI is a project of the Eli Home, addressing the problem of child abuse by looking at a community as a whole and searching for so-

lutions that build a healthier environment for children to prosper.
