This aſterschool club will meet once a month at the 4-H Center to study all things horses! The 4-H Van will pick up interested students. You do NOT have to own or ride a horse to parcipate! Next Meengs: February 3rd and March 2nd. Choose to Reuse!!! We all know how important the 3Rs arereduce, reuse and recycle! In this fun aſter school project club, we are choosing to reuse! Come spend an aſternoon taking an item and repurposing it into something new! Meeng date for Choose to Reuseis Wednesday, February 26th. The 4-H Van will pick up and meeng is unl 5:00pm at the 4-H Center. Shotgun Team 7th & 8th Graders (only) are eligible to shoot on the Elbert County 4-H Shotgun Team. Pracces are held on Sunday aſternoons at the Elbert County Gun Club from 3-5pm. If you are interested in joining the 2020 Shotgun Team, please get a packet from Ms. Lauren. Poultry Judging Elbert County 4-H is delighted to offer a Poultry Judging Team this year! No experience necessary! Come learn how to evaluate egg quality, carcass quality and live birds! February pracces will be held on Tuesdays, the 4th and the 18th. The van will pick-up interested students. Pracces conclude at 5pm. Parcipate in this compeve event, earning Clover Points and learning life skills. Who doesn't love chicken?!?! Save Your Large Boles Mr. Patrick, our Agricultural and Natural Resources Extension Agent, is in need of gallon size jugs or two-liter coke boles for a special project he is working on. Earn Clover Points for saving your gallon and two-liter size plasc boles and turning those in to the 4-H Office. We will collect boles for the month of February ONLY! We appreciate your help! Farm Bureau Essay Contest 6th, 7th & 8th graders are invited to write an essay for the Annual Farm Bureau Essay Contest and earn Clover Points for participating. District and State Winner will receive a financial award! The topic is “describe the relationship between farmers and natural resources.” The essay should have a title sheet and a citation page. No name should be mentioned in the essay. Typed essays should be double spaced, 12 point font, 1 inch margins and maximum of two pages. You should turn your essay into Ms. Lauren or Ms. Sophie by Friday, February 28th.

Georgia 4-H Beekeeping Essay Contest 4-H’ers are invited to earn Clover Points by competing in the Georgia 4-H Beekeeping Essay Contest. Essays must be turned in to the 4-H Office by March 13th by emailing them to [email protected]. The topic is: Overwintering—Bee Survival through the Cold Season. Essay should be typed with 12 point font and between 750-1000 words. Sources must be cited in a bibliography list. 1st place wins $250, 2nd place $100 and 3rd place $50. Archery Team at State Congratulations to the Elbert County 4-H Archery Team at their State Indoor Match last month. 4-H’ers

who shot include: Alexis Anglin, Noah Anglin, Kayla Bellew, Dakota Carey, Alex Dunbrack, Eli Evans, Taylor Evans, Ashleigh Gaddy, Trevor Harbert, Luke Harper, Emma Hernandez, Collin Johnson, Courtney Johnson and Ryker Wright. Special kudos to Eli Evans for placing 8th in Cloverleaf Compound, Taylor Evans for placing 5th in Junior Compound and Dakota Carey for placing 12th in Junior Compound.

Horse Quiz Bowl Our Horse Quiz Bowl Teams competed at their state contest last month as well. Members of the Junior Team were: Nate Albertson, Jalyn White, Kennedy Ray and Hannah Cramer. The Senior Team consisted of: Emma Albertson, Eden Baughman, Hope Dotson and Emma Williams. Great job on a hard contest!

EPH Anti-Vaping Video Contest

Congratulations to the following 4-H’ers who competed in the Anti-Vaping Video Contest sponsored by Elbert Partners for Health: Emma Albertson, Nate Albertson, Carli Andrews, Reagan Baker, Eden Baughman, Hannah Cramer, Miya Hood, Payton Howell, Nelly Martinez,

Ty McLendon, Katie Nguyen, Braylin Norton, Jude Sanders, Scarlett Smith, Myla Warwick and Jalyn White. Kudos to Reagan and Myla for winning the Middle School Contest and the Young Rider Officer Team for winning the High School Contest.

Good Luck to Dairy Team We would like to wish Isabella Belli, Leah Higginbotham and Cole Smith good luck as they head to the Georgia Junior National Livestock Show this month with their dairy heifers. Congratulations to Leah for winning 1st in Showmanship and 2nd in Weight at the White County Dairy Show.
