□ Announce your engagement to family and close friends

□ Publish your announcement in local paper

□ Discuss with your fiancé the number of guests you’d like to invite and how large a wedding party you wish to have

□ Discuss where you’d like to be married, venue options, etc.

□Discuss and set a tentative budget

□ Decide how expenses will be shared

10-12 Months Before□ Select color scheme and wedding theme

□ Decide on your wedding date and book your venue for ceremony & reception. Book venue as early as you can since the Eastern Shore is a popular wedding destination!

□ Decide if you are going to work with a wedding planner

□ Choose your wedding party by asking your dearest friends and family

□ Firm up budget, make any adjustments necessary

□ Book your minister or officiant

□ Book wedding entertainment

□ Book photographer

8-10 Months Before□ Create wedding website for everyone to enjoy and keep informed

□ Start planning your honeymoon, ask a travelagent about peak season destinations

□ Select your dress and accessories- some dresses need long lead times for ordering and alterations

□ Select your wedding party’s attire andaccessories

□ Finalize your guest list

□ Send out Save-the-Dates

□ Create your wedding registry

□ Finalize your vendors in each category

6-8 Months Before□ If leaving the country on your honeymoon,make sure your passports are up to date

□ Finalize honeymoon plans and purchase tickets

□ Shop for bridal lingerie

□ Order mother-of-the-bride attire

□ Order wedding bands


□ Have your tasting & discuss menu

□ Schedule an engagement session with yourphotographer

3-6 Months Before□ Meet with DJ/Band to discuss your playlist. Meet with ceremony musicians and selectmusic for service

□ Reserve suite for wedding night

□ Order invitations

□ Discuss rehearsal dinner (this is usually held by the groom’s family)-- guest list is customarily close family and any out of town guests

□ Finalize flowers in your bouquet, taking intoaccount your overall color scheme and theme

□ Discuss table centerpieces with your florist

□ Choose a salon for hair and make-up andschedule a trail

□ Make any transportation arrangements-- reserve limousine, buses if desired

□ Meet with wedding planner to discuss details and tentative timeline for “day-of”

□ Decide on shape and theme of wedding cake

□ Dance lessons for you and your fiancé!?

□ Shop for any detail items that you may be using to enhance your wedding theme, i.e. favors, decorations, candles, guest book, cake knife, etc.

2 Months Before□ Mail invitations

□ First fitting for wedding dress

□ Research wedding license requirements

□ Order ceremony programs, signage, and/or place cards

□ Order wedding cake

□ Review details for boutonnières and bridesmaids bouquets with florist

□ Finalize rehearsal dinner plans

□ Attend bridal shower

□ Check in with officiant and inform aboutspecial readings for ceremony

1 Month Before□ Final fitting for gown

□ Get marriage license

□ Purchase gifts for bridesmaids and groomsmen

□ Pamper yourself with bubble baths, massages, champagne and candles

□ Have a facial and body scrub with beautician

□ Meet/talk with photographer about your “day-of” timeline and finalize all details

□ Update wedding website

□ Make Welcome Bags for out-of-town guests

□ Purchase wedding gifts for one another

□ Check in with each vendor by phone or email to make sure everything is in place

1 Week Before□ Confirm with caterer/venue the final number of guests

□ Confirm rehearsal dinner plans, details, timeline

□ Confirm honeymoon plans and begin packing

□ Create an emergency kit for bridal dressingroom with scissors, needle and tread, tapes, shoe tape, safety pins, manicure set, hairspray, etc.

□ Check in with venue and/or wedding planner


A Day or Two Before□ Get some rest & pamper yourself!

□ Pack bags for honeymoon, etc. and for yourwedding day

□ If you need to pick up any final items likeprograms, etc., do so now
